Well, we have moved again! (This is the 7th time in the past 5 years...) But before we left Virginia we finally made our way to Williamsburg for a wander into history. It was literally like stepping back through time as we crossed the street from modernity into a world of blacksmiths and weavers...

Finally made it to Oakhart Social in Charlottesville for dinner! Between packing to move (again) and Mister Henry (who hit the two month mark the other day) there doesn’t seem to be much time to linger over beautifully delicious bites these days. But it was totally worth the hour long drive to sit outside with a blanket about the shoulders to ward off the autumn air and devour things like this beautiful country toast topped with ricotta, pepper jelly, local ham, pear, fried brussels sprout leaves and pickled mustard seed...washed down with a champagne cocktail, of course!

Whalehead Mansion in Corolla, North Carolina... some believe it is haunted. It does have a 'Shining-esque' quality to it, don't you think? I can almost feel those rocking chairs on the front porch starting to squeak back and forth... back and forth...

After a visit to the Hugh Mercer Apothecary in Fredericksburg, I have been trying to imagine what it would feel like to have 18-22 of these bad boys attached to my body for medicinal purposes. Feeling pretty good about modern medicine today!
