Kids of all ages can travel internationally! My boy started at age 9 in Costa Rica on a student tour. Hiking that day to view the Volcano Arenal, it rained so hard that it came through our umbrellas! On a student tour, we got to see much of the behind-the-scenes that most people miss when traveling solo. Wildlife encounters included stopping the tour bus along the road, the driver getting the machete out and blazing a path to see the sloths. We got to kayak under the volcano, swim in the Pacific Ocean, sit in the hot springs, participate in Latin dance class, visit a cacao plantation, and so much more! More than I could’ve ever planned and squeezed into 10 days.

It is amazing spending time with your child(ren) while they are still under your roof doing things you may never have the time to do with them again once they fly the coop! I'm so grateful for every sunset we've seen together in all of the countries we have visited. This photo was taken on our ferry ride across the English Channel earlier this year.

On our upcoming tour, we will travel through northern Wales and stop in the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which is the longest-named place in Europe, and continue to Holyhead to board a ferry across the Irish Sea to Dublin.

The ferries are like mini cruise ships, with all of the amenities! Multiple floors and things to do. But what I enjoyed most was being up on deck talking to a friend until dark while getting our steps in. Group tours offer companionship that you just can't find traveling solo (helpful when your teen wants to pull away and discover his own independence!). It's a safer environment that allows more opportunities for all, especially busy moms who just need to take a breather.

Travel Spotlight for England: Fish & Chips! 🐟🍟

Traditionally made with flaky white fish in a crispy golden batter and served with thick-cut chips (what we call fries), it's a meal that's been loved for generations. Many locals enjoy it with a splash of malt vinegar and a side of mushy peas.
