When a Georgian language lesson turns into a cultural experience! Truly over the years we’ve found that learning the language of the place we live is much more than letters, sounds, and grammar.
While not on the traditional panduri, our language teacher graced us with a beautiful rendition of Akaki Tsereteli’s “Suliko”, a popular Georgian folk song you’ll hear all around the country. Music, cuisine, traditions are all a part of the process!
Suliko was initially a love poem written by Akaki Tsereteli in 1895 and shortly thereafter put to music composed by his relative Varinka Tsereteli at his request.

When visiting Kutaisi, you certainly can’t miss the Colchis Fountain. Completed and revealed in 2011, it gives some vibrant life to the primary roundabout in the city’s center.
A tribute to the Bronze Age of the Colchian kingdom, the statue contains approximately 30 enlarged gilded figures of archaeological items found throughout the country of Georgia, but mostly in the region of the Colchis Kingdom (today’s Imereti).

Only a 1 hour drive from Batumi, Makhuntseti Waterfall in Adjara region is a great break from the beach and quick trip outside the city. Plus the views through the mountains along the drive are also wonderful!
