This is an up and coming Women in Aviation Chapter associated with Women in Aviation, International. This group meets once a month and is designed to provide year round educational and networking opportunities, mentoring, and scholarships to women and men in the Greater Grand Rapids area, mid and west Michigan who are interested in the aviation/aerospace industry or who are professionals in the industry.

💙It's that time again! Registration and sponsorships are open our Great Lakes Girls in Aviation day!

✈️The Women in Aviation International Great Lakes Chapter invites your organization to participate as an exhibitor at our 12th Annual Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at Avflight Grand Rapids (GRR).

🛩This free community event is only three months away, and we need YOUR HELP to make it a success! Girls in Aviation Day introduces youth to the many career opportunities within aviation and aerospace through hands-on activities and interaction with industry professionals.

🤓We’re seeking aviation and aerospace organizations & professionals to help inspire the next generation by:

🚁Sharing information about careers and educational pathways
🌟Providing an interactive activity, display, or giveaway
🌟Showcasing your organization and its impact on the industry
🌟There is no charge to participate in the event, organizations only need to provide materials and/or staffing to support the experience they are hosting. Exhibitors will be provided with a table and an opportunity to engage directly with attendees and their families. Please see this informational flyer for additional details.

Hi all! We just had our Quarterly Zoom meeting and have a couple things to share!

First, our Honor the WASP event went great! Huge thank you to everyone who was able to participate and help cleanup and decorate our local WASP gravesites.

Second, we are excited to start up our summer luncheons again! We have the following dates set aside for the Lunches. Locations TBD. June 28th, July 25th, September 19th. We will announce locations as we plan them. Suggestions are welcome! 🍽🥂

Third, we are looking to do another float down the river👙🩳🩱! But we have to ask, does everyone prefer to rent kayaks🛶 or tubes? Let us know in the comments!

Lastly, Girls in Aviation day will be here before we know it! If you haven't already started looking for sponsorships, now is the time!

Don't forget Honor the WASP Day is this Saturday! We have a great group of ladies who will be going out to the gravesites of the local WASP to honor them. This is such a great national event and we are so honored to be able to participate this year!

Two of our board members, Samantha P (President), and Taylor V (Outreach Coordinator) paid a visit to to present to the Lady Aviators about their careers in Aviation, about WAI Great Lakes, and how they got to where they are today. They were able to bring some "show and tell" items too!

Samantha works in Cybersecurity at . Taylor works in Estimating and Engineering at . Both companies have roots in Grand Rapids!

WMAA was very welcoming and eager to learn about these two unique aviation careers. They would welcome any other speakers to come talk to the Lady Aviators about other opportunities in the field.
