+MOVE+MEET UP+
In somatics and improvisation, developing a practice of one's own is crucial. Learning and self-learning, in contexts and environments that allows focus on the process and the experience of learning rather than the product or the goals, are essential. The Open Space Project is meant to bring you that environment. It is a safe space where any mover interested i
n the study and practice of somatic and improvisation techniques can come and nurture their personal practice, individually or in collaboration with others. Neither a class nor a jam nor a rehearsal, the Open Space is simply two hours of studio time shared by anyone who is curious about or committed to movement studies of any kind—no matter what your background is. It is a place to go to practice scores you have learned in a workshop, to design new rituals, to investigate problems that seized your attention, to meditate, to read a book on anatomy or dance, to share discoveries with others: the possibilities are left open to your individual needs and desires. Whether you will dive into a private study or try collaborative investigations with others is entirely up to you. The Open Space Project aspires to cultivate maturity, responsibility in one's learning and community amongst movers in the Boston area. It aims to support individual processes and to foster diversity of thoughts and approaches to movement among dancers, performers and movers. So bring your curiosity, your generosity, your desires, your rituals, and your books or notes! All levels welcome.
