About a year ago my youngest was born and had to be admitted to the NICU but Hayden was discharged from the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House was going to offer us housing free of charge but we ended up not needing it because Rhett got discharged shortly after, thank God. What an honor it is to get to haul some rock for McDonald’s today.

Ever wonder what the difference is between #57 gravel, crush and run, and chert? Here’s a quick breakdown to help you choose the right material for your project:

#57 Gravel:
• Made from crushed stone
• Typically sized ½” to 1”
• Great for driveways, drainage, and concrete mixes
• Doesn’t compact well, but allows excellent water flow

Crush and Run (also known as Crusher Run):
• A mix of stone dust and various sized gravel
• Compacts tightly for a solid base
• Ideal for driveways, walkways, and under concrete or pavers
• Offers good drainage with a firm finish

Chert:
• A natural rock with clay-like consistency
• Often tan or light in color
• Affordable, but not as durable in wet conditions
• Can become slick or break down over time, so best used in dry areas
