Many of us over 35 may remember Bob Hope from his famous, Road Show movies with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour or from his famous comedy and Hoiday Specials. During the War years, the Military can attest to his contribution to the troops morale during the difficult time's in the trenches. In a conversation with a Hope family member, I was asked to let the vintage dance community about the Bob Hope
Airport name change going on. Here's what I would humbly ask of you for your help. Hope's birthday is on May 29th. Would you help me to flood this page with Military photos present and past of people and families that Bob Hope and his USO tours have touched? Secondly I would humbly ask for dancers of all styles, past and present to join in. Hope was a hoofer from vaudeville to Broadway to the big screen. I'll start posting some videos of his dancing immediately. Also for my swing friends and community, check out his funny movie, College Swing with stars like Gorge Burns, Betty Grable, Martha Raye, Dorothy Lamour, Sag's Jackie Coogan, the incredible Slate brothers, Jerry Colona and many others. I have had the pleasure of working for the Bob Hope production co. since moving to Los Angeles from New Orleans in 1993. His daughter Linda Hope, to me is a saint. This man who sacrificed time with his family and put his life on the line to entertain the military troops in harm's way, deserves this honoring of his name at the Burbank Airport. Let's petition to extend his life's story for the next generations to learn about. He was awesome at his convincing the biggest names of Hollywood's past and present to join him on those adventures too. Please take a minute or two out of your busy day and share this post with all of the pics and comments. May I suggest also maybe a quick line for your suggestion of a name to help the, "Bob Hope Hollywood Airport." my suggestion. I thank you in advance for your help to continue to honor this great man and to, Thank Him for the Memories! Sincerest of blessings for your help. Kevin Roscoe Farnsworth
