The mountain bluebird is such a beauty, isn't it? It's got this brilliant sky-blue color that makes it pop against the backdrop of the sagebrush and open landscapes of places like Yellowstone and Grand Teton. You’ll often spot them in open fields, perched on fence posts or flitting about catching insects. Fun fact: they can hover in place, much like a hummingbird, when they're on the hunt. Keep your eyes peeled around April to mid-autumn — that's their prime time in these parts.
★ Andy’s Tip: Sunrise or sunset is when their colors truly shine. Head to a spot like Antelope Flats for some great viewing moments and photo ops.
