National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees The NABT is the only organization dedicated to the chapter 7 trustee practice. Trustee, and associated professionals and businesses. Trustees, Assistant U.S.

The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees ("NABT") is a nonprofit association formed in 1982 to address the needs of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees and to promote the effectiveness of the bankruptcy system as a whole. Membership in NABT is open to chapter 7 trustees and their staff, judges, employees of the Office of the U.S. Our associate members include attorneys, accountants, auctioneers, appraisers, insurance agents, software providers and bankers. Our organization has a quarterly publication, The American Bankruptcy Trustee Journal, which is distributed to NABT members, U.S. Trustees, bankruptcy judges, bankruptcy law professors, and members of Congress. Advertisers may contact [email protected] for additional information. NABT hosts a website and a members-only listserv. Members have access to seminar materials, creditor contact lists, the Journal, Trustee Tips, and much more. In addition, NABT has developed a website where members can list assets for sale, www.bankruptcysales.com, with public access for viewing and bidding. Each year, NABT hosts a spring seminar and annual convention. The annual convention, held in the late summer, draws over 500 people. Both events offer accredited educational sessions and social events. In addition, videocasts of educational sessions are available online. The Association is committed to improving the administration of bankruptcy by promoting professionalism, education, and the open exchange of ideas among its members and other members of the bankruptcy community. NABT has successfully raised issues of concern for its members to the U.S. Congress, the Office of the U.S. Trustee, and the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, as well as other organizations involved in bankruptcy or with the legislative process. Association leadership has testified before Congress and in administrative forums, and regularly speaks at meetings of professional organizations. To further these efforts, members are encouraged to join the President’s Circle and to support our PAC (political action committee).

Every Chapter 7 trustee in America will see increased compensation starting October 1, whether they're an NABT member or not. But it was NABT members who funded, fought for, and secured this result. If you're benefiting from this work, it's time to be part of what comes next.

🎉 6 Years of Subchapter V – Strengthening Small Business Reorganization

Subchapter V of Chapter 11, enacted in 2020 through the Small Business Reorganization Act, was designed to provide a streamlined, cost-effective restructuring pathway for qualifying small businesses. Six years in, Subchapter V remains one of the most impactful reforms in modern bankruptcy practice. As jurisprudence continues to mature, practitioners are seeing increased predictability in confirmation standards and plan feasibility analysis.

Industry organizations such as National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees continue to advocate for refinements that preserve accessibility while maintaining creditor protections. Learn more at https://www.nabt.com/.

A historic win for Chapter 7 trustees. After 20+ years of advocacy, S.3424 is signed—delivering a long-overdue $60 compensation increase. This victory happened because NABT showed up, invested, and fought for trustees. 💪
