Salt water doesn’t forgive neglect.

This is what happens when a Jet Ski is ridden in salt water and isn’t properly washed down afterward. Salt gets into the engine bay, around fittings, fasteners and electrical components — then it sits there and starts eating away at the machine.

The corrosion in this video didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of salt being left to do its job.

After EVERY saltwater ride:

• Flush the engine according to the manufacturer’s procedure
• Thoroughly rinse the engine bay and accessible components with fresh water
• Rinse the pump, intake, ride plate and trailer
• Allow the ski to drain and dry properly
• Use a suitable corrosion inhibitor on vulnerable metal components

A 15-minute wash-down can prevent thousands of dollars in corrosion damage and repairs.

If you ride in South Florida, saltwater maintenance isn’t optional — it’s part of owning the ski.
