I know, it has been a long time since I have posted here! But very excited that the new multi use trail that connect Bloomfield Road and Liberty Drive to the Karst Farm Greenway (at Gifford Road) is finished, other than the new traffic signals at Curry and Constitution and Liberty and Constitution (which should be activated very soon).

Really liking the City of Bloomington’s newest section of the Jackson Creek Trail, which connects Sherwood Oaks Park and the Goat Farm to Rhorer and Sare Roads!

Just got some great news -- per the Director of Monroe County Parks and Recreation, the Karst Farm Greenway is now 100% open for public use -- all 7.2 miles from Karst Farm Park to SR 46 in Ellettsville.

I know it took awhile at the end for the Indiana Railroad to finish up their work, but they are VERY serious about safety, so I can't blame them.

More soon -- but again -- the Karst Farm Greenway to Ellettsville is officially OPEN!

Beautiful morning to ride with my daughter on the northern segment of the Karst Farm Greenway, from Ellettsville. There were lots of folks using the trail...cyclists, dog walkers, joggers, walkers, families, seniors, etc. Only a few short months until this trail is open all the way from Ellettsville to Karst Farm Park!

The boardwalk is taking shape — this will be the ramp to get onto the Monon corridor from the Loesch Road trailhead of the Karst Farm Greenway. And speaking of the trailhead — trail users will be very glad to hear that the parking lot will be enlarged as well (not losing any trees — just expanding the usable parking area).

Last week I posted a picture of the abutments on the bridge to the Monon corridor that will take the Karst Farm Greenway to Ellettsville. Now the bridge is there! Counting down the weeks before the trail is usable from Karst Farm Park to Ellettsville!

Good progress on the Karst Farm Greenway connection to Ellettsville. This is the bridge across the creek that will connect the Monon corridor to Ellettsville to the existing trailhead at Loesch Road. The approach to the bridge will be a wooden ramp. This bridge and the ramp will be the last major pieces of the trail -- after they are in place and the segment is paved, you'll be able to ride/walk on the trail from Karst Farm Park to Ellettsville!

Great progress on the remaining connection between Ellettsville and the Karst Farm Greenway. This is the trail under construction from Loesch Road that will connect with where the trail corridor crosses Woodyard Road.

Great news for area trail-users: Governor Holcomb just announced the winners of the third round of Next Level Trails funding, and among the winners are TWO area projects! Both Ellettsville and a group from Owen County led by the Owen County Community Foundation (MyPath) had winning projects. Here are the brief project descriptions. Monroe County, the Town of Ellettsville, and the MyPath group are all collaborating to eventually build a trail from the Karst Farm Greenway all the way to Spencer, with stops at RBBSC schools and McCormick's Creek State Park.

Congratulations, Town of Ellettsville and MyPath!

Looking north at the southern end of the Limestone Greenway, from a future extension of the Limestone Greenway that will ultimately go down to Fluck Mill Road and beyond!

This morning the Monroe County Commissioners awarded the contract to E&B Paving to complete the remaining segment of the Karst Farm Greenway. This segment will connect the existing trailhead on Loesch Road to the segment of trail that currently runs between SR46 in Ellettsville and Woodyard Road. Construction will begin in the spring.

This project is funded by a grant from the state's Next Level Trails program.

The segment of the Karst Farm Greenway from Ellettsville (SR46 and Hartstrait Rd) to where the railroad line crosses Woodyard Road has now been completely paved!! This is a total of almost 2.5 miles of trail. There are still some finishing touches to come -- cleanup, fencing, signage -- but the paving is complete and the trail is usable by cyclists, runners, wheelchairs, etc. For the moment, park at Campbell's Park in Ellettsville, and take the sidewalk along 46 to Hartstrait. Eventually there will be a trail from Campbell's Park directly to the Karst Farm Greenway.

The final segment -- connecting this trail to the existing trailhead on Loesch Road -- will be started and completed next year.

Thanks to Governor Holcomb's Next Level Trails program for funding this community trail!
