If you or someone you know needs help from SMOG, PLEASE use our client intake form. The form is in our linktree and also in the "contact us" link on our website.
Not only will you get a faster response, but you will still have to fill it out if you just send us an email.
If you just send us an email asking for help, we will reply asking you to fill out our form. If you don't, we cannot help you. There is prudent information and documentation that we need to stay legal as a non-profit.

We need your help. 🧡

An elderly woman undergoing chemotherapy has been displaced by water damage — and we're working to get her belongings moved out safely this week.

We're looking for volunteers available for one or more days of work. Every set of hands makes a difference, even if you can only spare a day.

Signing up through our volunteer form also keeps you in the loop for future opportunities when our community needs a little extra support.

🚛 We're building our Board of Directors — and we want YOU.

SMOG (Special Moving Organization) is a nonprofit that provides FREE emergency moves to families in crisis. When someone needs to escape a dangerous situation, face a disaster, or sudden displacement — we show up with a U-Haul and volunteers for FREE!

We're looking for passionate volunteers to join our Board of Directors in the following areas:

⚖️ Legal / Nonprofit Law
💼 Fundraising
📣 Marketing & Public Relations
🤝 Community Outreach
📦 Logistics & Operations
💡 Any community leader with a big heart

What you'll gain:
✅ Real nonprofit leadership experience
✅ Board Member credentials
✅ Networking with community changemakers
✅ The satisfaction of making a direct impact

Board positions are unpaid volunteer roles since it is illegal in Alabama for nonprofot directors to be paid. Board meetings are once a month. All backgrounds welcome.
