The Downtown Berkeley MusicFest, now in it’s 7th year, celebrates the diversity of Berkeley’s rich musical pedigree, with an array of musical acts that run the gamut from Latin, jazz, rock, bluegrass, folk, reggae, soul, DJs and even children’s pop! Spanning four days over 10 venues, this years MusicFest is bound to be a stone groove and will add yet another chapter to the musical and cultural his
tory of this great town! The 7th Annual Downtown Berkeley MusicFest is sponsored by the Downtown Berkeley Association, the City of Berkeley, and Jupiter. With its spacious patio, redwood tree-lined stage and great food and beer choices, Jupiter has been offering up a great variety of music for over 20 years now, focusing primarily on jazz while encompassing a litany of other styles from bluegrass, funk, alt-rock, and DJs. Other Fest venues include Triple Rock, Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, California Jazz Conservatory (formerly The Jazzschool), Berkeley Arts Festival, Downtown Berkeley Pegasus, Subterranean Arthouse, Bobby G’s and the Berkeley Public Library. It all gets started with our Festival Kickoff Party on September 11 at the Downtown Berkeley BART Plaza from 5-8, where the New Orleans big band style of East Bay Brass Band and the Latin dance & funk of Alta California get the Fest off to a flying start!
