Cadillac Mountain Sunrise
📍Acadia National Park, Maine

We lucked out big time for this experience! The park only opens up about 100 vehicle passes per day for sunrise. They open up registration at 10 o’clock two days before, and it’s really just the luck of who can refresh the page and push the button the fastest. The first day we tried, they sold out before we could get one because I hadn’t made an account. Lesson learned. The second day, I was signed in, refreshed, found the loading screen, and was told it was sold out. BUT I saw something on Reddit about the tickets only being held for 15 minutes to checkout. So at 10:15, I refreshed. There were 4 left! So I clicked again, crossed my fingers, and we got it!! 🎉

The day of our pass, we woke up at 3 am because we were staying about an hour from the park. We reluctantly brought the dogs because Leo had been anxious in the camper. We found a spot to sit and snuggle, and waited for the sun to rise. We were a little afraid that it’d be too cloudy, but it ended up being a truly beautiful morning!

Sunrise at Cadillac Mountain was one of the biggest highlights from our visit. If you have plans to visit Maine, do your best to make it out for this. It’s so worth it. ☀️

We’ve been wrestling over what to do these next few weeks. There have been quite a few roadblocks to our travels, including our solar setup not working. Ultimately, a few days ago, we made the decision to head back to Minnesota.

As much as we wanted to stay out east, we were planning on boondocking most of the next month. (For my non-RV followers, this just means that we won’t have electricity or water, besides for our battery charges and what our tanks can hold.) Mason has been troubleshooting our battery setup for a couple weeks, and we needed a stable electric connection to attempt fixing it (again). So instead of spending more money on campgrounds and potentially additional parts that we’d struggle to order online due to constantly moving, we decided to head back.

We had an amazing 2 months of traveling. There’s still so much to share from our time in the northeast, so we’ll still be sharing here. But for now, we’ll be back in a house. And hopefully finding our forever home before too long. 💞

Thanks for reading and supporting us!

Acadia National Park was the fifth national park for us!

Have you been to any national parks? If so, which is your favorite? If not, which one would you pick first? Let us know!

If you missed it, we’ve been sharing a lot of our Acadia trip on our profile and in our stories/highlights! Be sure to check them out. 💞

Can we just take a second to enjoy Leo’s goofy face here? 😂

Acadia National Park 🌲🪨

We only had two days in Acadia, and we made the most of them! The first day, we got up really early to do a popular hike at the Jordan Pond Loop trail. This was about 3 miles, and the furthest we’ve gone with the dogs! We took a few hours, then headed back to our car, where we were followed to our parking spot because the lot was so overflowing. So we highly recommend getting there early. 😅

We were actually supposed to have a longer stay by the national park, but hurricane Lee had different plans. We ended up only having two full days here, and this first day almost had me rearranging our whole fall schedule to stay longer. But you’ll see that we crammed a TON into those few nights. I just LOVED Maine. 😉

We might have done something our last day visiting Vermont. 😉

Spending time in the northeast has been a dream of ours for a long time. (Probably as long as van life has been.) We loved Vermont so much, we wanted something to commemorate making it here. We love our little syrup bottles! 🍁

Thank you !

We have so many things to share from our time in Maine! This is the Portland Head Lighthouse at Fort Williams Park.

We actually went back to try a lobster roll a few days after our first visit! Definitely worth standing in the rain to get some fresh Maine lobster. (They even had gluten free rolls!) 🦞

Sharing our time at Acadia National Park soon. 💛

We wanted to share some more photos from yesterday’s hike. Maggie is clearly our more photogenic selfie dog. 😂
