Freshen Up Friday's #026
Happy Friday and apparently French π Fries cooked in Duck π¦ Fat is delicious ππ€€π!!!! I will just have to take Billy Bond's word for it, today! Tomorrow, we dine on duck ππ¦!!!! Hopefully your lunch is ready and yummy-wummy π (Le' Telepath, for you C & H fans out there) Got a hot tip for you on Brooder Heat options.
The old red bulb is still great but can be more dangerous if not placed properly within a brooder area. Materials can ignite, lamps can fall, etc. I enjoy the other two options I have learned about over the last 3 years. One is a simple "Ceramic" Brooder Bulb. They use the same watts @ 250, as the red bulb π‘. However, they aren't as much of a fire hazard due to the makeup. Also, this "Plate-Style" Chicken Heater and brooder is a great option. Your birds can crawl under to get more of a "momma" kinda warm. It has legs and slots on its back to accommodate a fastener for various mounting options. Two is one and one is none. Please have extras of your heating options on hand, Better yet, multiple options with backups. Animals can get sick or worse if not properly warm! Too hot, not great either. Please monitor temps regularly.
Please take care to watch your cord connections, don't let any wiring chaff. Metal of frame, Coop wire, etc. can be a potentially & easily overlooked, avoidable hazard! You could make contact and cause a calamity to life and property. Make sure things are grounded, marked for visibility, and please have appropriate fire detection & extinguishing methods active/available. Please have a great and safe weekend ahead! Merry Mending from our workshop to yours! ππ€ ππ¦
