It was an interesting time flying and writing out all the procedures that we used to get into Haiti at the time including frequencies for Havana Control who let us fly through Cuban airspace to cut our transit time to Les Cayes by 20+ minutes. Lessons I learned, I took time off that I didn't think I could take off, and I took risks that were not insubstantial flying heavy cargo hundreds of nautical miles over the ocean in a single engine Cessna 210. But, looking back on it, it was worth it. Don't let fear stand in the way of serving others. Kent

It’s been 10 years. Now the CV-19 driven crisis. Flying for AeroBridge tomorrow. Thankful that a passion can be used to benefit others.

On Jan. 12, 2010, a massive earthquake ravaged Haiti, claiming up to 316,000 lives and displacing more than 1.5 million people. Today ― seven years later ― 2.5 million Haitians are still in need of humanitarian aid, according to a new report from the United Nations.

Bad news, everyone. Looks like PayPal may make us give back all of the donations that we received electronically, because we're not officially a non profit yet. I'll keep you posted, but it doesn't look good. :-( If anyone has a problem with this, you might want to email [email protected] and mention my name (Rick Redfern) and email address ([email protected]), and that you're outraged about this situation.

Haiti Relief Flights: The Plane and Pilot magazine editor and a staff member were at Bahamas Habitat and flew to Haiti and Caicos the same day Rick and I did. They wrote an article about it at: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/travel/haiti.html Rick and I are actually in one photo (the one with the "SK" box in the ...foreground) taken at the Bahamas Habitat building in Nassau (I have the orange shirt on in the background). The photos are from Bahamas Habitat, Jacmel, and Les Cayes. All of which I flew into. Rick, unfortunately, had to miss Jacmel. Take care, Kent

Aircraft specifications, airplane reports, planes for sale and more information for pilots from Plane & Pilot and Pilot Journal magazines.

As we've said before, we would like to plan a second trip down there, this time with more people and airplanes, if possible. If you have an airplane or anyone you know has an airplane and are interested in making this trip to help out, then please contact Rick ([email protected]).

Rick and I are both back in Austin now. We were both grateful for the opportunity to go and will go again if needed. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers they were and are deeply appreciated. Will post more pictures and video later. Kent

Medical team in Jacmel requested lots of multi-vitamins b/c most people are iron deficient. If you want to help with this, contact www.bahamashabitat.org. God bless you for caring. Kent

Flew into Jacmel today and delivered food and medical supplies. Canadian military is supervising the airport. Flew one relief worker out. Other aircraft from Bah. Habitat flew medical team out of Les Cayes. In Jacmel and P-A-P, many Haitians sleep in the median and doctors' work never ends. Kent

Today, Rick departs for the U.S. Sadly, he has to go back via commercial flight, as he has to make it back to town for shows. Kent will stay on and fly another mission before flying the airplane home. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers while we were here. Truly this has been a trip I will never forget. We're already working on plans to come back. Stay tuned...
