Wow, y'all! We are once again blown away by the love and support of our incredible flower friends. The GOOD THINGS Collection all but sold out in less than two days (just one bouquet left - more on that below)! Thank you all so much! We hope you'll continue to find and celebrate even the smallest good things—laughter, resilience, empathy, connection, courage—as we finish out this difficult year.
The last bouquet still available is the Hope Bouquet, a classic "creams and greens" arrangement, which is actually one of my favorite go-to designs when giving flower gifts because this classic look goes with any room, in any season. If you want to snag the Hope Bouquet, hop to it! I'm wrapping up all the bouquets now in their brown paper wrappers (which kind of remind me of a cozy fall jacket), and I'll be packing them up during baby's nap times the rest of this week. Yesterday Maeve thought she'd be funny and only nap for 30 minutes each time. HA. Hopefully I will get some longer chunks of work time today. In any case, these WILL be in the mail by early next week (aiming for end of this week though). Next we'll be focusing on the last few last bridal recreation orders on our 2020 production calendar and are hoping to do another limited edition collection launch in the new year.

✨Our GOOD THINGS Collection of bouquets is now available!!! https://www.amaranthuspaperflora.com/shop✨ We've named each bouquet for good things that even 2020 could not diminish: empathy, joy, perseverance, generosity, community, laughter, creativity, strength, kindness, and more. Surely, there is much to grieve, but we also can’t help but notice the good things that this year has revealed, instilled, or grown in us as individuals and communities.

*Long post alert* (Summary: it's a strange year to be a new mom, and social media had to give... but we're back with a collection launch coming up next weekend!). 🌸 2020 feels like we may have slipped into the Twilight Zone. Time is broken (days take years but weeks evaporate in hours!), and the world seems to be falling apart, but we have been barreling through the last few surreal months very quietly. Why? Can I just say “because of everything?” 😅 The primary reason is because I'm being a mother. Baby Maeve is now 9.5 months old, and she’s no longer the basic little squish who mainly stayed in one place while we knocked out a collection of corsages in the spring and a rainbow of bouquets in the summer. Now she’s a magical moving whirlwind who eats solids and follows me and has MANY opinions and a sense of humor! Nap times are primetime for doing Everything Else, including flowers. Sometimes I can make 2 whole stems! Sometimes mama needs a shower instead. The juggle is real. 🤷‍♀️ Then, social media simply became more than I could handle logistically, mentally, and emotionally. I didn't have the capacity to keep it up, let alone do it well. And when I stepped back from the scrolling, analyzing and trying to maximize engagement, it just felt like a weight had been lifted. I had some breathing room to cope with this year and to enjoy my baby. All that said, we have been keeping as busy as we can handle with flower-making (which, admittedly and intentionally, is a MUCH LOWER production volume than years past), and we’ve been working on some really lovely bridal recreation custom orders. BUT we want to release one more collection of bouquets in time for the holidays. We don’t want to compete with the big stores and black Friday craziness, so we’re aiming to launch (hopefully next weekend!) and ship before Thanksgiving. So stay tuned for details on this upcoming collection. And, thanks for sticking with us through everything (including this long post 😂)! xoxo

Oh hey, we’re still alive!😅Returning from our rather extended, unplanned social media hiatus (more on that another day) to encourage you in the name of kindness, decency, justice, science and love: VOTE like our lives and planet depend on it. We voted early and have confirmed our ballots were received! And one more thing: take care of yourself today. No need to keep the news on, doom-scroll through your feed, or argue with strangers on the internet (these things will not change anything or make you feel better). Do your voting and then do what you need to calm your nerves and tend to your heart so we can be ready for whatever 2020 brings us next. 💙 P.S. Let's talk about joy. 💗 Actually, let's talk about that deflating feeling when someone stomps on a little bit of your joy with a careless comment, unnecessary judgement, unsolicited opinion, or even sometimes an intentional jab. Let's not do that, ok?! What are some ways we can add to someone's joy? Or spark some new joy in someone's day? Right now, I think we're all a little weary. Weary of the isolation, weary of the unknowns, weary of the tension. Let's give each other *extra* grace and think of ourselves as fountains not drains (sprinkle and splash any bit of joy we can and avoid sucking it away).

I just re-read all that and feel like I need to say that nothing specific sparked this post -- y'all are awesome. 🙌 I think we're all living a bit more digitally these days, and it's easy to forget to be intentional with our words through screens. So, this is just a little reminder. An aspirational post, if you will!

Ok, so back to those ideas for sprinkling joy? I'll start...
1. Leave a surprise La Croix (or soda or beer or whatever they like) on your neighbor's doorstep.
2. Whenever applicable (in conversation or online), respond with a "Yes, and..." sentiment (like from improv... google it for a good time).
3. Text a simple "thinking of you" text to your frontline worker friend, or your mom friend now thrust into parenting and working from home at the same time.
4. Texts are easy, here's another one. Text a picture of flowers (screengrab any of ours if you want!) to a friend and wish them a happy day (or comment/tag them on a post you think will make them smile, just because).

As we prepare our COLOR COLLECTION of bouquets for Saturday's launch, I've been thinking a lot about the colors of the garden in our yard. I like to take Maeve (now 5 months old!) on strolls through the yard and point out the different flowers and colors (check out our stories for a little garden tour). She is like a very serious sponge, soaking it all in. Even as we sit on our front porch, she stares, mouth agape, at the patches of blue sky peeking through the expansive canopy of green trees on our street (did you know Atlanta is the City in a Forest?). Our little corner of the universe is just teeming with luscious color right now as we step into summer. And at a time when the world seems both restrictively small and overwhelmingly large, this slice of rich, vibrant color is a piece of escape and a flash of happiness.

I hope we've been able to capture a bit of that joy in each of the monochromatic bouquets we've put together for this collection. Composing bouquet recipes is my absolute favorite part of doing paper flowers, and I'd like to think that a bit of unique personality shines through in each of these bouquets. For example, the yellow one is like the friend who is endlessly hopeful and always knows how to cheer you up. Blush could be the tender and compassionate sister who always has a kind word to say. Blue is reliable and generous, but doesn't like to make a fuss. On the other hand, Red's ambition and determination is energizing and contagious. But TOGETHER, oh wow, together this rainbow of bouquets is throwing the biggest quarantine dance party ever. Can't you just hear the music?

Get excited, flower friends! Our COLOR COLLECTION of paper flower bouquets launches on Saturday (June 20), the first day of summer! We've developed a dozen monochromatic bouquet recipes in different shades of the rainbow and have made two of each bouquet (so that's 24 bouquets total in this collection)! 🌈 When we think of *flowers* the colors are what draw us in and make us Oooo and Aaaah. When we think of *summer* we think of ripe watermelon, fruity popsicles, bright bathing suits, luscious gardens, and fantastic fireworks. We've tried to capture that summer energy and vibrance in this fun, colorful collection. And we can't help but LOVE that this rainbow of bouquets is launching during PRIDE month. In the spirit of all kinds of love, riotous joy, and lively color, we can't wait to launch this collection on Saturday! We're still getting everything set up on the website, but in the meantime, we have 3 questions for you:

Baby days seem to evaporate before my eyes. I’m sorry I’ve not been back to post or share more stories to engage in the critical conversations of this past week, but here’s the truth: I’m taking it in, and the work is ONGOING. Like you, I’m watching, listening, reading and learning. I’m realizing just how white my feed is, and am working to change that. I am eager to follow and share the work and words of so many new-to-me Black voices and creatives. I’m sorry it took this groundswell of collective awakening for me to more actively seek out this work, and I am committed to doing whatever I can to listen to and amplify these voices going forward.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I recognize that staying home to care for my infant is a privilege unto itself, and I don’t wish to make excuses. But I think there will be roles and moments in which each of us will serve this movement in different ways. While my feet may not be marching (and my days may only be a big baby blur), I can still engage in the fight against racism with my dollars, my voice, and my vote (and you can too). For starters, I will work harder to more intentionally support Black creatives and businesses and to be actively anti-racist in my parenting. (My daughter is already a force to be reckoned with, and she will abide no nonsense like racism or hatred). ❤️
