In this role, you will provide for the transportation of clients to and from hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation facilities, dialysis centers, medical offices, private residences, airports, outings and events. Furthermore, you will ensure that all passengers reach their destinations safely and in a timely fashion. That means ensuring that everyone is safely strapped in his or her seatbelt and/or wheelchair restraints to have an enjoyable, comfortable ride.
Essential Duties:
Transporting clients utilizing company vehicle in a professional manner.
Operating vehicle in a safe manner to include parking the vehicle and pulling into/out of temporary loading/unloading areas
Assisting clients in getting onto the vehicle and safely inside of their respective destination
Utilizing smart mobile technology to interact with dispatching staff to obtain client trip schedules, report the time of passenger pick ups and drop offs, as well as any changes to schedule or traffic delays. Notifying the client, if necessary, of late arrivals
Reporting any incidents or accidents to the supervisor
Maintaining a professional image and attitude with clients, visitors, and co-workers
Operating wheelchair lifts and securing wheelchairs and stretchers in the vehicle
Completing daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
Adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures
Required Experience:
Must be 25 years of age or older with a HS diploma or GED
Must be able to operate the hydraulic wheelchair lift to safely put a client in/off the vehicle.
Must possess a valid state-issued, non-expired driver’s license, and provide a current 10-year DMV printout
No moving violations or "at fault" accidents within the past 3 years
Ability to understand and operate smart mobile technology, GPS applications, 2-way radios, and cell phones
Ability to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and criminal background investigation
Ability to read, write, and understand English
Ability to physically step up and down, bend, stoop, and safely secure clients for transport, lift up to 50 lbs., and transport wheelchair clients on paved and unpaved surfaces
TASKS
-Remove and replace soiled linens or equipment to maintain sanitary conditions.
-Drive ambulances or assist ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescent persons.
-Report facts concerning accidents or emergencies to hospital personnel or law enforcement officials.
-Place patients on stretchers and load stretchers into ambulances, usually with assistance from other attendants.
-Accompany and assist emergency medical technicians on calls.
-Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances.
-Perform minor maintenance on emergency medical services vehicles, such as ambulances.
-Clean and wash rigs, ambulances, or equipment.
-Earn and maintain appropriate certifications.
-Administer first aid, such as bandaging, splinting, or administering oxygen.
-Restrain or shackle violent patients.
