On December 15, 1921, Amelia Earhart passed her flying license test through the National Aeronautic Association. Two days after securing her license, Amelia flew in the Pacific Coast Ladies' Derby, held in Pasadena, California.

She began her flying lessons in early January of 1921 with Neta Snook at Los Angeles' Kinner Field. By July, she had purchased her own plane, a used Kinner Airster she affectionately nicknamed the "Yellow Canary."

She remembered her early days fondly in a 1929 letter to Neta Snook when Amelia worked as aviation editor at Cosmopolitan magazine.

We’re thrilled to unveil our latest project! Flying Into History – The Legacy of Amelia Earhart, developed in partnership with American Cornerstone Institute’s Little Patriots, is an exciting new online curriculum for grades K-5 invites students to dive into the extraordinary life of our favorite aviator!

Students will be introduced to Amelia through a delightful cartoon and a series of lesson plans to discover how Amelia’s unwavering determination and courage not only made her a pioneer in the skies, but also a brilliant example of what it means to chase one’s dreams. I appreciated not feeling rushed and being able to revisit each part as many times as our children wanted. This allowed the excited energy to settle and the kids to really start to interact with the displays."
