Late post but a good one.

Saturday morning we had Justin and his Meikle Concrete Creations & Construction crew out for their yearly walleye charter! We started out the morning by giving ourselves some breathing room from the lightning before we threw the ropes at 6:30. The flags were hanging in the marina but that wasn’t the case on the water. A snotty lake welcomed us out of the gate, building the further we went out, but nothing crazy. I set down NW of the harbor around the 00N line and the screen was cluttered with big hooks! As soon as I got the boat set on our NE troll, the first rods hit the water and came right back! Couple fish in the box first thing, to keep the cooler from sliding around when we got that occasional “that was a good one” wave! Dipseys deep right in the bait did some serious damage paired with big Stinger Fishing spoons and Storm Fishing thundersticks, adding to the cooler non stop. These guys don’t just pour beautiful concrete. They know how to play the waves as the fish made their way to the net. We stuffed the cooler to the gills with a full boat, 48 fish limit plus a chrome to the point we had fish literally jumping out!

This is a trip we all look forward to, and enjoy giving the crew a break from the hard labor to catch some fish! Thanks again Justin for choosing us, we will see you the same place next year!

Saturday afternoon!

After a week of baseball and a trip to Niagara, we were lucky enough to have Tera get a hold of us for a fishing trip on their way home! We pushed off the dock at 12:30pm and headed out the harbor! We set down a little shorter than the morning trip, but it was nice getting the rods set before they started to fire.
Dipseys and spoons did great once again, with the help of our Bomber 24a's on wire! I'd say we were about 50/50 between the dipseys and wire for the afternoon trip. 28 walleye made a trip back down south with them!

Saturday morning Eric and Brian joined us, and brought the kids out for a morning of catching! We loaded up and took off north with a very exciting crew of little ones! 59N right out front was the game plan and it did not disappoint. Dipseys deep running 3@185 2@145 and 1@125 did some damage on these fish! The rigger and fun rod also held its own pulling a pile of fish as well! Every fish was just as exciting as the first one for the kids, and they couldn’t wait for another rod to fire off! Just an absolute great time! We boxed 36 nice fish for the morning, with Wyatt weighing down the cooler with his 29” Fish Ohio!

Thanks guys for the great trip, can’t wait to see you all back again!

Sunday morning we had the pleasure of having Rob and his family on the boat! We pushed off the dock at 5:45 and headed straight north. I didn’t think this weekend of fishing could get any better, but it did! It was a straight up dipsey beatdown. Dipseys with big spoons, running one side of the boat deep and one side up pretty high in the water column. The fish were on fire, hooking up before we could even get the rods set in the holders. The downrigger and fun rod was a yo-yo pulling a pile of fish as well! We did manage to get one, yes only one wire rod out with a 24a bomber that just got completely smoked. This crew didn’t mess around, they weighed down the cooler with 30 eyes, plus another 10 from the captain and mate!

Saturday afternoon we had Rich, Cole, and Caden back for another one! They had a light crew this go-around so we grabbed a couple extra guys from the marina to go catch a few! The wind switched up on us a little so I headed more north west this time around, and stopped about 2 miles short of where I have been fishing. The screen was stacked with hooks, and we started to fire lines. As soon as the first line got set, we were on. One after another as fast as you wanted to set the lines out. Dipseys with big spoons pulled almost all our fish, with some help from the fun rod and just a couple wire running 24a bombers. These guys cranked their arms off, especially Cole! We stacked the cooler to the top and threw back a couple more on clean up. Coming from me, a dad myself, it’s always so much fun watching Rich and his boys bond over a fishing trip that I luckily get to be a part of!

What a great time getting to run along side these captains again Saturday morning! We all put the beating on some nice fish and filled the boards up! We had the same crew as last year, which was great! I’ll tell you what, they got one heck of a work out! Dipseys, wire and our little fun rod on the down rigger as fast as you could get them back in the water! Thanks again Lost Tackle for the opportunity, we are already looking forward to it again next year!

Yesterday started out as a waiting game for us, pushing our morning trip back an hour at a time till 11:30 when we decided to take mother Erie on. The lake was nasty, but chilled out enough to let us get out. 5-6 footers were pretty consistent out of the break wall with your occasional “that was a big one” 7+ footer mixed in. 14 mile hike to the fishing grounds and as we kept going the lake just got better and better! We set her down, spun around and trolled in on some very smooth rollers! First lines in the water were dipseys, and they were both hooked up before I could get a wire going. Aggressive, hungry fish kept us all busy in the back of the boat! 2 dipsey rods and one, maybe two wire a side if you were lucky is all we could keep up with! We stuffed the cooler with 42 walleye for a full boat limit and had an easy ride in on a nice and calm lake!

Thanks Ryan for booking with us and playing the waiting game to get out. I’d say it was worth the wait!
