One of the aspects of NorthLink Aviation’s project that goes beyond air cargo is providing a recovery and recycling solution for deicing fluid at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Last winter (2021-2022), aircraft deicing activities at ANC discharged 949,646 gallons of propylene glycol into neighboring waterbodies, including Cook Inlet. NorthLink’s project will provide a first-in-Alaska glycol recovery and recycling system that will protect neighboring waterbodies, improve deicing fluid supply at the airport and reduce CO2 emissions associated with producing and transporting new deicing fluid.
