Big Thanks to Our Sweetwater Creek Park Volunteers! 🌟

On April 22nd, we had an amazing day at Sweetwater Creek Park! Thanks to the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG) and the Port of Allyn, and with the help of HCSEG’s awesome outreach, we gathered an incredible group of volunteers.

18 volunteers spent about 35 hours cleaning up trash, while 5 hardworking members of the Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) tackled invasive plants.
A huge shoutout to John Beavers of Beavers Firewood, who helped safely bring down some hazardous trees — John, you're a true community hero!

Thank you to everyone who showed up, pitched in, and made a real impact. You are what makes our community special!

Lighting the Way – “Two Lights for Tomorrow”

We’d like to share an event organized by a private initiative called America250 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s legendary ride.

On April 18, 2025, people across the country are encouraged to shine two lights—candles, lanterns, or flashlights—in remembrance of the two lanterns that signaled Revere into action in 1775. This symbolic gesture serves as a call for unity, reflection, and better citizenship.

The Port of Allyn is not hosting this event, but we’re happy to help spread the word and invite our community in Mason County to take part if they wish.

How to participate:

For the past month, our amazing volunteers have been working tirelessly to transform the Port of Allyn and get it ready for summer. Their dedication and hard work have brought so many positive changes, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

They have done an outstanding job — from pressure washing and restoring signs and structures, to repairing benches, fixing potholes in the parking lot, and taking care of countless small details that make a big difference.

We also want to remind our community that the Port of Allyn always welcomes volunteers. If you’d like to join in and help make the Port shine, we’d love to have you! Together, we can turn the Port into the true gem of Mason County.

Once again, thank you to all our volunteers — your efforts do not go unnoticed, and your love for this place inspires us all.

Community Poll: Should We Keep the Donation Box?

The Peninsula Alliance placed a donation box in our community to collect items for those in need. However, we’ve noticed an ongoing issue—large, bulky items and trash are often left around it, creating an eyesore and affecting the town’s appearance.

The Port of Allyn wants to hear from you! Do you believe the donation box is an important resource worth keeping, or would it be better to remove it to prevent further issues?

Please share your thoughts by voting in the poll and commenting below!

🔹 Keep the donation box
🔹 Remove the donation box

Your feedback will help guide our next steps. Thank you for participating!
