Josh is the do-it-all at Lewis Timber, bringing innovation and new technology to our logging crews. He is the dreamer and the innovator, always thinking ahead and implementing changes that have expanded our business in ways we never imagined.

You’ll find him everywhere, all the time—always on the phone, putting others first, and leading selflessly. He’s created an environment in the logging industry that is anything but typical, going above and beyond in every way.

A man of his word, Josh deserves more recognition than he’ll ever receive—not that he seeks it. His motivation comes from his family, his faith, and the future he’s building. Now, as a father to Mary Ransom, he’s more driven than ever to make an impact.

Josh is a son, a brother, a husband, and a father—and the way he leads Lewis Timber reflects that. He takes pride in what he does, ensuring every decision is made with care, vision, and the future in mind.

Beyond work, Josh loves turkey hunting, spending time with family, and searching for arrowheads. He also never misses a chance to head to the beach.

It has been a privilege to grow up with him, work alongside him, and now watch him step into fatherhood. The impact he has made—and continues to make—on our family, our business, and this industry is something truly special.

with Janet Lewis – The Heart of Lewis Timber, Inc.

For some, the timber industry is just a business. For others, it’s a way of life. For Janet Lewis, it’s both—it’s the thread that has woven together her childhood, career, and family for generations.

Growing up surrounded by the hum of saws and the smell of fresh-cut lumber, Janet never imagined she’d one day run the office of her father’s sawmill. But when she graduated high school, unsure of her next steps, an opportunity arose. Her grandmother, who had managed the books for years, was ready to pass the responsibility on. Her dad needed someone he could rely on, and Janet didn’t hesitate to take on the role.

Little did she know, the skills she gained in those early years would become even more valuable when her husband, Brian, decided to start his own logging company. It was a leap of faith, one that came with its fair share of challenges.

“I was a little skeptical and very scared,” she admits. “But I am so thankful that he stuck with it through many difficult times.”

What started as a dream has now become a family legacy. Lewis Timber Inc. has grown from a single crew into an award-winning operation, recognized for its commitment to stewardship and sustainability. But for Janet, the greatest reward isn’t in the accolades—it’s in the people.

“We have definitely come a long way, but the best part is now having our kids as part of the business as well,” she says.

Beyond her role at Lewis Timber, Janet is a devoted wife, mother, and proud grandmother. When she’s not managing the business, she enjoys watching Auburn sports and spending time with friends and family. No matter where life takes her, she stays grounded in faith, gratitude, and the deep-rooted legacy of hard work passed down through generations.

Hey y’all, I’m Olivia Lewis Carl! If you’ve followed along with Lewis Timber, you’ve probably seen my posts—but I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share how this all started.

The vision for our social media happened in the simplest way—riding around with Josh, talking about the future while checking on crews in the woods. We thought, why not start today? And just like that, we did.

For me, this page is about education, connection, and appreciation. I want to bring light to the logging industry by making it informative and engaging while keeping it relatable for other loggers and those who love this way of life. I never want this page to feel like we have it all together—because the truth is, we’re just out here working hard like everyone else. I want it to reflect the heart of this industry—hardworking people, strong values, and a deep respect for the land.

But over time, this has become about more than just telling the story of logging—it’s about telling the stories of our team. The men behind the machines, the ones who show up every day, work tirelessly, and keep this industry moving forward. It’s a privilege to highlight them and to show just a small glimpse of the hard work they put in.
