Our next trip is taking shape, and this time we're going to focus mainly on quiet, picturesque towns and villages. From July 20-30, we'll be getting away from the cities and exploring some beautiful out-of-the-way places. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, we have room for you! Reach out via Facebook Messenger or by sending an email to [email protected].

One of our possible 2026 trips will be to focus on the "Plus Beaux Villages de la France," which are the official "most beautiful villages in France." There are 184 of them, so we'll have many options. Here are some that we saw over the last 3 years. Send us an email at [email protected] or just message us if this sounds interesting to you.

So imagine arriving in the early morning from your overnight flight. The best way to adjust to the new time zone is to stay awake. If it's your first time in Paris, you'll want to start with some of the "greatest hits:" Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame. In addition, lunch with the locals in a non-touristy restaurant (we were the only English speakers) and a stroll along the Seine. The first full day in Paris is definitely the magical "infatuation stage."

On our trips, we have the flexibility to see which sporting events, concerts and festivals are happening, and we can even plan the trip around them! Even though the French Open tournament wasn't happening this time of year, we were able to stop by Stade Roland Garros to take a walk around. We even got to watch some professional padel matches, since the "Paris major" (like a grand slam) was going on. Padel is like a pickleball/raquetball hybrid. It's very popular in Europe.

The pacing of the trip is so important! At the end of a busy day it's time for a break, and you have options. The apéritif (or apéro) is a French cultural tradition of taking some time before dinner to relax, socialize, and have a drink and a light snack. In the picture below are two popular drinks: a limoncello spritz and an Aperol spritz. After all, when in Paris...

Another choice is to take a "sieste," or nap. At the hotel was that sign, which means "obligatory nap!" Who am I to argue?

A galette de sarrasin is a savory crepe made from buckwheat flour, and when done right the outside is crispy and delicious. The creperie right next door to our hotel was Les Embruns, and it was the real deal! Travel with us and we'll discover some amazing places!

The final day in France is a flexible day. We have the options of seeing something new within the city of Paris, revisiting a favorite from the previous week, or taking a train to check out a site just outside the city.

This time we decided to visit the Chateau De Vincennes, a medieval fortress and castle that is just a 10 minute train ride from the center. After that, a quick stop at Popelini for our favorite cream puffs. Finally, the farewell dinner was at a Syrian restaurant.

Then it was time to say "Au revoir," which means "until I see you again." Once you have experienced Paris for the first time, you will want to return!

Our eighth day in France was a busy one. We had started with Sainte-Chapelle, which contains the most magical stained glass you'll ever see. We were the first visitors of the day, and for a few precious minutes we had the chapel to ourselves.

Then it was time for a picnic. We went to Rue Mouffetard to buy our bread, cheese, fruit, and pastries. We had our lunch in a Roman amphitheater that was over 2000 years old.

After some downtime, we made our way over to Rue de Rivoli to watch the cyclists from the Tour de France go by on the final day.

We had dinner at a ramen place near our hotel (hey, one can have only so much dairy!)

On day seven we had a leisurely morning in Colmar before returning to Paris. In the evening, we walked around the Latin Quarter a bit, visiting the outside of the Pantheon before having a delicious dinner at a Peruvian restaurant. We ended the evening at my favorite gelato place!

Day five and six are a "vacation from the vacation." For this trip, we decided to check out Colmar, a picture-perfect town in Alsace, complete with half-timbered houses and a canal running through the center. We spent two relaxing days taking in the scenery as well as the local cuisine and beverages. It was the perfect way to recharge our batteries before a few more days exploring Paris.

On day 4, we visited the Musée d'Orsay and the Paris Catacombs. We had delicious Vietnamese food for dinner, and took a walk around our vibrant neighborhood after dark.
