When an aircraft (A/C) goes AOG i.e grounded for repair, there is a rush to acquire spare-parts for an immediate return to service. Every minute counts as AOG costs rapidly accumulate in tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. Very often these spare parts must be flown and trucked to the location of the grounded A/C from far-flung places. The logistics coordination that ensues to achieve delivery in the shortest possible time so as to mitigate AOG costs, cannot be underestimated.
