Alexander Varvaraenko, VARAMAR, SHIPNEXT: Appeal Hearing Scheduled

The Kyiv Court of Appeal has scheduled the hearing of Alexander Varvarenko’s appeal against the decision of the Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv to close the proceedings in the defamation case involving Varamar Shipping and Konstantin Kalny.

The appeal hearing is scheduled for 25 November 2026 at 09:40.

In his appeal, Alexander Varvarenko argues that the first-instance court wrongly determined the jurisdiction of the dispute and violated procedural rules when closing the case. He maintains that the dispute concerns the personal reputation of an individual and therefore should be heard by a civil court.

The Court of Appeal will now examine these arguments and the circumstances surrounding the first-instance decision.
