On Wednesday 7th March 2018, William Hans Schmidt, CEO of J4 Logistics Solutions met with the Hon. Erin O'Toole, Member of Parliament Durham Region to discuss J4 Logistics Solutions' Project in Ukraine that is an example of cooperative work between the two countries due to the Ukrainian Canadian Free Trade Agreement . J4 Logistics Solutions Canada will be establishing J4 Logistics Solutions Ukraine that will have its head office located in the city of Chernihiv in Chernihivs’ka oblast’;(Province). The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Chernihiv however within the entire Oblast are 1,511 settlements of various sizes ranging from large cities to very small villages. The capital city of Chernihiv has known human settlement for over 2,000 years, according to archaeological excavations. The Chernihiv Oblast comprises a very important historical region, notable as early as the Kievan Rus' period, when the cities of Chernihiv and Novhorod-Siverskyi were frequently mentioned. The city of Chernihiv was the second most important Ukrainian city during the Rus' period of Ukrainian history, often serving as a major regional capital. Danylo of Chernihiv wrote of his pilgrimage to Jerusalem during this era. The numerous architectural monuments of the city bear witness to the invasions suffered and the wars. There are a few outstanding historical Orthodox churches and buildings in Chernihiv, Novhorod-Siverskyi, Liubech, Nizhyn (Nezhyn) and Koselets' (an city of Ancient Rus', older than Kiev). Nizhyn is an historical cossack city and home to a university.

The economy of the Chernihiv Oblast mostly deals with petroleum and natural gas extraction, transport, machinery, to***co and textile industry. The history and the industries in the Chernihiv Oblast whereby logistics is a key requirement for such industries makes it befitting as a good location for J4 logistics Solutions Ukraine to be based.
