Climate
Great Britain has a temperate maritime climate, tempered by the warm Gulf Stream. The country's climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers. Quite a lot of precipitation falls during the year. The weather in the UK is often very changeable even during the day. In winter, temperatures rarely drop below zero, although frost and snowfall are possible. Southwest winds often bring cold and dampness. The western part of the country is more rainy than the eastern one.

The largest river in Great Britain is the Severn. Other major rivers: Thames (England), Tay (Scotland), Bunn (Northern Ireland), Thawi (Wales). The largest lakes are Lough Neigh (Northern Ireland), Loch Lomond (Scotland), Windermere (England) and Bala Lake (Wales). The UK is riddled with a dense network of canals that were dug during the Industrial Revolution.

Once the territory of the country was covered with forests. Now they occupy only 10% of the area. 55% of the UK is occupied by agricultural land (mainly pasture).
