In an elephant family, experience matters.⁠
⁠
Elephant herds are usually led by an older female known as the matriarch. Over the years, she builds an incredible knowledge of the landscape, including where to find water, food and safer routes.⁠

The younger elephants learn by following, watching and observing the older members of the herd.⁠
⁠
