“นักเดินทางผู้กล้าหาญท่ามกลางสายฝน”
วันนั้นฝนตกโปรยปรายตลอดทั้งวัน
ตามแผนจริง ๆ เรายังมีสถานที่อีกหลายแห่งที่ต้องไป
แต่ผมเริ่มสังเกตเห็นว่าเธอเดินช้าลงเรื่อย ๆ
ทุกครั้งที่ต้องขึ้นหรือลงบันได
ผมจะคอยช่วยพยุงเธอโดยอัตโนมัติ
เพราะกลัวว่าพื้นเปียกลื่นจะทำให้เธอล้ม
ถึงอย่างนั้น เธอก็ยังยิ้มและพูดเสมอว่า
“ไม่เป็นไร ฉันยังไหว”
แต่สุดท้าย อากาศเย็นและสายฝนก็ทำให้ร่างกายของเธออ่อนแรงลง
เธอจึงพูดเบา ๆ ว่า
“วันนี้ดีมากแล้ว ฉันอยากกลับไปพักที่โรงแรมก่อน”
ระหว่างทางกลับ เราได้พูดคุยกันมากขึ้น
และตอนนั้นเอง ผมจึงได้รู้เรื่องราวของเธอ
เธอเป็นทนายสาวจาก Mumbai
อายุเพียง 34 ปี
เป็นนักเดินทางหญิงที่เดินทางคนเดียวอย่างกล้าหาญ
แต่เธอกำลังเผชิญกับโรคหายากตั้งแต่กำเนิด
โรคที่ค่อย ๆ ทำลายกล้ามเนื้อของเธอไปทีละน้อย
เธอจึงต้องใช้ไม้เท้าช่วยเดินทาง
และนั่นก็ทำให้เธอเห็นคุณค่าของทุกก้าวที่ยังเดินได้
เธอมองออกไปนอกหน้าต่างที่มีสายฝนตกลงมา แล้วพูดอย่างสงบว่า
“ก่อนวันที่ฉันจะเดินไม่ได้อีกต่อไป
ฉันอยากออกไปเห็นโลกให้มากที่สุด”
ตอนนั้น ผมนิ่งไปพักใหญ่
ในฐานะไกด์ ผมพบผู้คนมามากมาย
บางคนตามหาอาหารอร่อย
บางคนตามหาวิวสวย
บางคนตามหาความสนุก
แต่วันนี้
ผมได้พบกับคนที่กำลังใช้ชีวิตแข่งกับเวลา
ผมเข้าใจว่า
ความกล้าหาญที่แท้จริง
ไม่ใช่การไม่มีความกลัว
แต่คือการรู้ว่าชีวิตอาจพรากหลายสิ่งไปในวันหนึ่ง
และยังเลือกที่จะรักโลกใบนี้ต่อไป
ก่อนจากกัน
พวกเราได้กอดกันเบา ๆ
ผมได้แต่ภาวนาให้โรคของเธอดำเนินช้าลงอีกสักนิด
และหวังว่าสักวันหนึ่ง
เธอจะได้กลับมาเที่ยว Taiwan อีกครั้ง
นักเดินทางทุกคนต่างมีเรื่องราวของตัวเอง
และเรื่องราวของวันนี้
คือเรื่องของ “ผู้หญิงที่กล้าหาญที่สุดคนหนึ่ง”
“The Brave Traveler in the Rain”
It was raining that day.
There were still many places left on our itinerary, but I noticed her steps becoming slower and heavier.
Whenever we walked up or down stairs, I instinctively reached out to support her, worried that the wet ground might cause her to slip.
Even then, she kept smiling and softly said,
“It’s okay, I can do it.”
But eventually, the cold rain drained her strength.
Near the end of the tour, she quietly told me,
“Today was already wonderful. I think I should head back and rest early.”
On the way back, we talked more deeply.
That was when I learned the truth about her story.
She was a young lawyer from Mumbai, only thirty-four years old.
A brave solo traveler.
She was also living with a rare congenital disease that slowly consumes her muscles over time.
That is why she traveled with a cane.
And that is also why she treasured every step she could still take.
Looking out at the rain, she calmly told me:
“Before the day comes when I can no longer walk, I want to see as much of the world as possible.”
For a moment, I had no words.
As a tour guide, I meet countless travelers.
Some search for food, some for scenery, others for shopping.
But that day, I met someone racing against time itself.
I realized true courage is not the absence of fear.
It is knowing life may take many things away from you someday…
and still choosing to love the world wholeheartedly.
Before saying goodbye, we shared a warm hug.
I sincerely wished for her illness to slow down, even just a little.
And I hope one day,
she can return to Taiwan again—
to discover even more beautiful memories here.
Every traveler carries a story.
And today’s story belonged to a truly brave woman.
