Sailing in the wilderness is not quite the same as sailing somewhere remote.

Remote means far from people.

Wilderness means the place still belongs to everything else.

The weather decides when you move.
The ice decides where you go.
The animals walk past like you’re the visitor — because you are.

Out here, boat life can be beautiful, ridiculous, uncomfortable, and humbling all at the same time.

One moment you’re doing normal boat things.

The next, a polar bear walks past the window and reminds you that this is not a marina, not a campground, and definitely not a theme park.

This is why we came north.

Would you feel excited… or suddenly very aware of the door latch?
