I'm not somebody who feels the urge to showcase herself on the internet. It has never appealed to me and probably never will. Everyone's own choice after all.

These photos weren't chosen to collect likes for how I look or how well it is staged and edited. I chose them because they are valuable memories of that time and how excited I was discovering a tiny bit of Asia.

Shots of women on swings above water are incredible popular, I know that. I didn't sit there for a photo, I ran over feeling like a child at Christmas at the location, the lookout, the shade from the tree and how I could make the still cool water splash around.

The only reason I have photos doing that is because I coincidently met this lovely Italian sitting at the table next to me in a café also having breakfast. Those reading my captions will remember me mentioning her.

The other one was a monkey sitting there on the beach and a lady from the same boat urged me to pose so she could take a photo of me. Let's be honest. This looks like both of us have enough space to feel safe. In reality it was a spot called 🙊 Beach where tourist boats stopped to let people take photos of and with monkeys, leaving their trash behind and chasing them around. I was relieved when our guide cut the time short because she disliked how many boats had come ashore at the same time and hence, bothering the poor fellas even more than normally.

I'm suffering from accute cabin fever although I have 30 acres around me I can walk on. But not having much quiet time during the day or a car to explore the country side are driving me up the tree. Thus, I decided to change my planned grid to share happy me shots.

I've never seen these colours in the sky before. On the boat / snorkeling tour we were out all day until after dark. Just our boat, the sea, the sunset and Phi Phi behind us. Such a magical moment I'll hold dear forever.

I take hundreds of photos which can be considered as crazy and touristy. Many turn out s**t. Sometimes my phone is better than my DSLR. But at the end of the day it only counts what it means to me. Photos make me happy. Photography challenges me, very often frustrates me, takes up time and patience but sometimes the outcome is incredibly rewarding!

Photos can catch a glimpse ofnan experience, but rarely live up to it. However, they are a unique link to memories and can evoke feelings, images, sounds, even other little details like weather, location surroundings etc.

This is why photographs are my happy place. This is why I started this public account.
I want to share my experience and evoke feelings and yearnings. For culture, travel, compassion, happiness and learning.

Last photo taken from viewpoint 3 overlooking thebpeft side of the island. Thinking that the narrow area connecting the bigger parts of the island was entirely destroyed by a tsunami still makes me shiver!

On my last day I finally made it up to all 3 of Koh Phi Phi's viewpoints. I had laid it off over and over again, because I didn't want to wander around on my own.

Luckily, I found a lovely companion for this little adventure. And yes, you can call it an adventure! The day started off with moody weather so raining - sunshine - raining. After lunch we decided to venture up the route we were told by the hostel. After walking the first 200m on the beach we were hit by a sudden downpour and got soaked to the bones. So we decided to seek refuge in one of the beach bars drinking refreshing coconut water until the rain shower passed.

It was such a funny situation and I was determined to continue to the viewpoints. What we didn't know: the hardest part was still ahead of us! Soon we got off a proper path stepping over power lines and hundreds of coconuts, halfway stumbling uphill trying to find civilization again. Not surprising we called this path "coconut trail" 😂

However, it was worth it. I took this photo at viewpoint 3 and it was only us and 3 other people there. Despite the rain clouds and still being slightly wet we enjoyed a magical sunset watching over Koh Phi Phi

Can you believe it was my first time actually snorkeling? I was a bit freaked out at the beginning... Have you ever been snorkeling or diving in Thailand?

I had two different groups of people from my hostel going on a daylong boat trip including some snorkeling. Hungover Brits worrying about beer supply or a mixed group of other nationalities. I don't care about nationalities, but I do care about personalities and mindsets.

First of all, it was a Buddhist holiday which means alcohol selling, purchase and consumption is prohibited. I'm glad I followed my guts and went with the mixed group. On our third stop we met the boat with the English and it seemed more like a party boat with blasting music and drunken blokes on it.

You have no idea how relieved I was I dodged that bullet... I find those people a liability. They don't respect laws, they don't respect culture and most and foremost they are a danger for themselves and others at the same time. Imagine extreme hear, lack of hydration, a boat ride, tons of alcohol and snorkeling.

But rant aside, it was a great experience and luckily I managed to avoid becoming seasick as this is an issue for me. Going around all of Koh Phi Phi and discovering various spots was exciting and relaxing at the same time.

Dreaming of Paradise... ... while being in isolation on a remote farm in Australia. I don't want to limit the beauty of this post talking more about this situation. I'll comment on it later.

I thought I wouldn't like Koh Phi Phi as much as I did once you walk away from the party area with cigarette butts, condoms, bottles, plastic and god knows what it is breathtaking.

I took this photo on my first walk to Long Beach. That day I had breakfast on my own in a quite lovely, European kept café. Due to some mix ups with the orders I got to joke around with another young woman on her own, approximately my age. After a few sentences I joined her on her table and we chatted away. She decided to join me on my walk to the beach and we ended up spending all day and night together and and she also got to meet other people who stayed in my lovely hostel.

I hope this photo brings some joy into your grayish days... ❤️

Koh Phi Phi was a surprisingly lovely place, mainly due to the lovely people I met.

My hostel was a cozy size, only a few steps away from the sea. There I met people from various countries, but mainly Europeans. I happened to spend most of my time with Germans, a female traveler - you won't believe it - from Graz, Italy and Netherlands!

Considering it was beginning of February when I arrived on the island, it was surprising temperatures were taken. Once I had dropped my luggage at the hostel I headed straight to the beach. The air was hot and the water so warm I couldn't really cool down from the incredibly hot 2h boat ride from Phuket to the island. As a solo traveler you always need to look out for your things and here it proves important. Nope, no reason to worry about other people. It was the tides coming in way quicker than I expected. My things were fine, but other people paid no attention so not only I but also another woman grabbed soaked towels and bags and pulled them several meters back. Safe to stay they didn't even notice... As I have mentioned before, I am not fond of the infamous partying at the beach with all the garbage and misbehavior of people, but once the night passesnand you make your way to somewhere rather remote it is true paradise.

Today marks one month since I left Austria to embark on this amazing new journey. So many new adventures I've already been on will be with me forever. Also all the unique, fun, fascinating and lovely people that I've already met over the last few weeks I will never forget.

Meeting strangers and instantly being on a whole different level of conversation than you'd be at home because you generally spend a much shorter but more action packed time together will mever cease to amaze me. Hence, it's one of my favourite parts of traveling by myself and staying in hostels. Especially was a lovely and quiet place some distance from infamous Khao San Road which was the best place I could have asked for.

This post is the last on Bangkok. It was a very hot, fast-paced time paired with massages and mani and pedi for cheap money and I could learn quite a bit about Thai culture.

The next few posts will be on my time in Koh Phi Phi and Phuket.

Wat Arun probably is my favourite temple ever. From the first moment of seeing it I was mesmerized by its architecture, the details and colours.

Fun fact: the steps are pretty steep and high. This is coming from a tall woman and considering the average size of Thailand's population.

Today it's time to open up why I've not posted much over the last couple of months. I simply needed the time to make important decisions, plan a series of things and then go through with them.

To keep it short and simple: I packed my bags again after only 5 months of being back home. Hadn't it been for the support of my I wouldn't have had the guts to actually go through with it. But change was absolutely necessary.

Asia has always been on my list and everyone told me Thailand was a good country to get tobknow this part of the world. This is why I'm starting off with first glimpses of my first stop:
Everyone who knows mevknows about my chronic fearvof flying, but despite having the notorious middle seat, made my flight less uncomfortable!
The photos show the and which are two of the most important sights in Just look at the history of thesw buildings and the incredible eye for detail in every corner. The most impressive thing about the reclining is certainly its length of 15 meters!

What do you know about Buddhist tradition / Thai culture?
