Hello SSFFA,

Thank you all for your support and congratulations over the past 48 hours. I appreciate the Independent Election Committee for organizing efficient elections and the outgoing leadership under Chair Ilinga Richard for a smooth democratic transition.

Thanks to the MDK campaign team for their excellent work, and to all voters, directors, managers, and field officers for electing me unopposed. I promise to uphold our manifesto and ask for your continued support.

I also thank fellow chairpersons from JIA, Kaya, and Nisitu’ for their kind wishes. Special appreciation goes to the SSFFA National Office, Executive Officer Mr. Mawa Moses, legal advisors, guests from Juba, and media teams for their roles during the elections.

SSFFA at Nimule Border Consultative Meeting

South Sudan Freight Forwarders Association appreciates the engagement held yesterday , 7th, March 2026, between clearing agents and the leadership of South Sudan Revenue Authority at Nimule Border Post.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for clearing agents to raise practical challenges affecting cargo clearance and to discuss solutions aimed at improving efficiency and transparency at the border.

As frontline facilitators of trade, clearing agents remain committed to working closely with SSRA and other stakeholders to support smoother cargo movement, stronger compliance and improved revenue performance for South Sudan.

SSFFA continues to encourage professionalism among clearing agents while supporting constructive dialogue that strengthens trade facilitation at Nimule entry point.

South Sudan Freight Forwarders Association (SSFFA) today hosted a high-level delegation from the Tanzania Customs Agents Association(TACAS), led by its Chairman, Mr. Ephraim Mwankusye, on a strategic fact-finding mission regarding SSFFA’s Minimum Clearing Commission Digital System.

The delegation toured Nimule customs operations and engaged directly with clearing agents to assess the system impact after four years of implementation.

The digital platform has enhanced transparency, protected agent incomes and strengthened professionalism within the sector.

During deliberations, both associations explored opportunities for regional collaboration in digital transformation, data sharing and capacity building.

The visit marks the beginning of a structured partnership between SSFFA and TACAS.

Professional Certification Achievement

On 27th February 2026, over 10 clearing agents of the South Sudan Freight Forwarders Association (SSFFA) successfully completed a specialized Rule of Origin training facilitated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in collaboration with the South Sudan Revenue Authority.

Certificates of Competence were awarded to participants in recognition of their successful completion.

SSFFA conveys its sincere appreciation to JICA and SSRA for their continued partnership in strengthening technical capacity within the customs clearing sector and congratulates the certified members on this notable professional milestone.

South Sudan Freight Forwarders Association (SSFFA) commends South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), through South Sudan Institute for Revenue Administration (SSIRA), for the successful launch of EACFFPC competency-based training program for clearing agents today.

This milestone initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening professionalism, compliance and operational efficiency within the customs and freight forwarding sector.

The first cohort of 60 clearing agents will undertake a four-month certification program offered free of charge, reinforcing national efforts to build a skilled and standards-driven workforce aligned with regional best practices.

SSFFA welcomes this strategic investment in human capital development and reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance capacity, integrity and service delivery across the industry.

Clearing Agents Complete Capacity Building Training.

The second training for clearing agents at the URA–Elegu border, which began on 11 February 2026, has successfully concluded today.

Held under the theme “The Project for Enhancing Capacity of Customs to Operate in Accordance with International Standards,” the training was delivered through a partnership between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA).

A total of 16 clearing agents were awarded certificates after completing the program, reinforcing ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism, compliance and efficiency in customs clearing operations.

SSFFA appreciates the continued collaboration by JICA and SSRA in building the capacity of clearing agents and advancing international best practices within the sector.

SSFFA Represented at SSRA Stakeholders Meeting on Digital Tax Stamp System

Juba, South Sudan, Wednesday February 11, 2026.

South Sudan Freight Forwarders Association (SSFFA) participated in the second stakeholders meeting convened by the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) on the implementation of the Digital Tax Stamp System.

Kuot Deng Chol, Chairperson of SSFFA at Juba International Airport, represented the Association and joined importers, regulators and business leaders in discussions on the rollout and its impact on trade.

He emphasized that South Sudan remains heavily dependent on imports and cautioned that excessive taxation on essential goods could negatively affect businesses and consumers. He also called for fairness and transparency in assessments to maintain confidence in the system.

SSRA reaffirmed its commitment to stakeholder engagement, training, and streamlined procedures to support effective implementation of the Digital Tax Stamp System aimed at strengthening compliance and combating smuggling.

SSFFA maintains its commitment to constructive partnership with SSRA and industry actors to ensure reforms are implemented in a manner that protects legitimate trade and promotes a predictable operating environment.
