NEWS FOR FOREIGNERS IN SLOVAKIA:
FOREIGN POLICE IN BRATISLAVA IS MOVING 📍
An important change is coming in Bratislava that directly affects all foreigners dealing with residence permits, renewals, and immigration procedures.
As early as April, the Foreign Police will begin relocating from its current location in Vajnory (Regrútska Street) to a new address on Račianska Street, in the Nové Mesto district.
REASON FOR THE MOVE
The relocation is linked to the planned construction of the National Hospital named after General M. R. Štefánik, which will be built on the current site.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR FOREIGNERS ❓
👉 Better location
The new office will be much closer to the city with improved transport accessibility. No more traveling “outside the city” to reach the police.
👉 Improved conditions
Authorities promise modern premises with sufficient capacity to serve clients more efficiently.
👉 Easier parking
There will be enough parking spaces directly at the building, which is currently one of the biggest issues.
👉 No long queues
The appointment system (časenky) will remain in place, meaning no large crowds or long waiting lines outside.
👉 Safety is not a concern
According to the police, even now the most common issues are simply incorrectly parked cars. No significant public safety problems related to foreigners have been recorded.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE MOVE ⚠️
It is not yet fully clear what temporary restrictions may apply during the relocation. However, the Ministry of Interior promises to inform the public in advance.
TIMELINE
The move is expected to start in April, with full operation of the new office planned around late May to early June.
WHY THIS MATTERS 💡
This is more than just a change of address.
It reflects a shift in how Slovakia approaches foreigners.
Before:
— outdated facilities
— inconvenient location
— temporary feeling
Now:
— proper urban infrastructure
— better conditions
— more organized processes
For many foreigners, this office is their first point of contact with Slovakia.
And now, that first impression is about to improve.
CONCLUSION
If you live in Slovakia or plan to move here, keep an eye on updates. In the coming months, not only the address will change — but potentially your entire experience with the system.
And yes — there is a real chance that dealing with immigration processes will become less stressful 🙂
