On a certain day, in a certain month, in the fading light of a certain city, some linger at the starting point of their journey, waiting for the moment to set out; some mount their bicycles, riding into the wind in pursuit of the path their front wheel leads them toward; some drift leisurely along the Danube aboard a river cruise, sipping champagne as time gently flows by; some sit quietly on the stones across the river, watching the Budapest skyline glow beneath the colours of sunset. As for me, I chose to board a tram. Accompanied by the soft ding-ding and the mournful hum of its bell, I gazed slowly through the window as oncoming trams flashed past like streaks of light. Amid the city’s shifting shadows and twilight, I found myself searching for the next chapter waiting to unfold in the story of your life and mine.

Bratislava

Bratislava, nice to meet you 🇸🇰✨

Starting from the south bank of the Danube, Starlemon's first stop was right beneath the UFO Tower. The bridge stretches across the entire Danube River, and with the cool breeze hitting your face while walking, the view back toward the Old Town and the castle on the hill slowly gives off that unmistakable Central European vibe.

After crossing the bridge, the first photo spot that makes everyone go crazy is the Church of St. Elisabeth (Blue Church) 💙 The whole church is painted in a pastel baby blue tone — even the walls, roof tiles, and tiny details look like something straight out of a fairytale. It’s small, but ridiculously photogenic. Especially in the morning when sunlight hits the building, the church almost looks like a frosted cake, and literally everyone stops for photos 📸

But honestly, the best part might be the quiet little streets nearby. You’ll randomly see locals walking their dogs or students cycling past. There’s none of that big-city pressure — just the kind of slow pace that makes you think, “life is supposed to feel like this.”

Then I slowly wandered back into the Old Town and arrived at Main Square, where the atmosphere changes completely. The square isn’t huge, but it’s seriously chill. Street musicians, outdoor cafés, tourists and locals all blending together — it has that unique relaxed energy only smaller European cities seem to have.

Right in the middle stands the Roland Fountain, which has been there for centuries, while the Old Town Hall beside it — with its yellow walls and clock tower — looks exactly like a scene from a European movie.

From there, I continued toward Michael’s Gate, the only remaining medieval city gate in the Old Town. The cobblestone streets are lined with cafés and souvenir shops. After passing by Holy Trinity Church, I eventually reached St. Martin’s Cathedral, where Hungarian kings were once crowned. Suddenly, the historical weight of the city really sinks in. You realize this quiet, low-key city actually hides centuries of Central European history behind it.

And of course, the grand finale had to be Bratislava Castle 🏰 Honestly, the uphill walk is a little tiring, but once you reach the top and look out over the Danube, the red rooftops of the Old Town, and even toward Austria in the distance… you just can’t help stopping to take it all in one more time 👀

Then it was finally time to say goodbye to this city 👋 And get ready for the next destination.

See you next time, thank you😊

Slovak Pub

🇸🇰 Slovak Signature Cuisine|Bratislava Must-Visit: Slovak Pub

When you arrive in Bratislava, a lot of people will recommend a place called Slovak Pub. Honestly, at first I thought it was just a regular bar—but the moment you step inside, it immediately blows your mind. The place is HUGE, but not in a modern, sleek-restaurant way. It feels more like you’ve walked straight into a historical film set of Slovakia.

Wooden walls, warm dim lighting, and themed rooms everywhere—you get this weird but charming mix of museum vibes, rustic village tavern, and a slightly chaotic student cafeteria feel. Surprisingly fun and atmospheric.

This isn’t just a “take photos and leave” kind of spot. It’s genuinely a place where both locals and tourists come to eat and drink. In fact, it’s said to be one of the largest traditional pubs in Bratislava. The layout is almost maze-like, so you might even get a bit lost while wandering around—but that just adds to the fun 😆. The beer is locally brewed too, and the prices are quite reasonable.

Now let’s talk food—this time I went straight for some of the most authentic Slovak dishes:

First up is Cesnačka (garlic soup), a true Central European classic. This isn’t a light starter soup—it’s bold, rich, and full of personality. It’s often served in a bread bowl, which already makes it feel dramatic when it arrives. Inside you’ll find cheese, potatoes, bacon bits, and a strong garlic aroma. It tastes a bit like a fusion between French onion soup and a garlic bomb in the best way possible. Super warming and filling—no wonder locals joke that it can “cure a cold” 😂.

Then there’s Bryndzové halušky, basically Slovakia’s national dish. It looks simple at first—small potato dumplings—but the flavor hits differently. The sheep cheese is incredibly strong and salty in a good way, mixed with bacon bits that make everything dangerously addictive. It’s pure comfort food—you don’t think much, you just keep eating 😆.

Next is Bryndzové pirohy, which you can think of as Eastern European cheese dumplings. Inside is a mix of potato mash and sheep cheese, topped with sour cream, fried onions, and bacon bits. The whole dish is creamy, rich, slightly tangy, and gives off a very home-cooked, comforting vibe—like something your grandma would make.

Finally, Strapačky s kapustou, the more rustic mountain-style dish. Potato dumplings with sauerkraut and bacon—it’s salty, slightly sour, and very hearty. Definitely a bold, heavy-flavor kind of meal 😆.

Overall, Slovak Pub isn’t fine dining—it’s more like a lively, down-to-earth place full of local character and history. You could call it touristy, but it still genuinely delivers authentic Slovak comfort food. If you only have time for one restaurant in Bratislava to try local cuisine, this is a very safe—and honestly fun—choice.

So if you pass by next time, pop in for a meal and grab a house-brewed beer 🍻 to cool off. Hope you enjoy this little travel diary from

Bratislava, Slovakia 🇸🇰

It’s May bank holiday again, which means it’s time to hunt for another fresh European city we’ve never been to and just chill for a few days. After staring at the map for ages, Starlemon suddenly realised — wait… we’ve travelled around so many parts of Europe, but somehow never unlocked Slovakia before! So without overthinking, we immediately booked the flights. Honestly, happiness can be very simple sometimes: if the ticket’s cheap, just fly 🤣✈️

Did a little homework online and found out that Slovakia is located in Central Europe, with Bratislava as its capital. It used to be part of Czechoslovakia together with the Czech Republic, until the two peacefully split in 1993 — an event beautifully nicknamed the “Velvet Divorce.” The whole country is filled with mountains, forests, and castles, and apparently the High Tatras are amazing for skiing in winter. Even though Slovakia is relatively small, its industry is actually super strong — especially car manufacturing, making it one of Europe’s automotive hubs. Plus, compared to Western Europe, prices here are way more wallet-friendly. Eating and drinking doesn’t hurt your soul as much 😂

First impression after landing? The locals seemed kinda cool and distant at first glance. But after interacting with them, we realised they’re actually super warm-hearted underneath! Especially the older generation — English may not always work smoothly, so sometimes it’s all about hand gestures, random smiles, and survival mode 😂 Still, we met so many kind people during the trip who genuinely helped us out, and somehow this city just became more charming the longer we stayed 🙌

Next post, we’ll share the must-visit spots and traditional food in Bratislava — stay tuned for 🍋✨

See you next time🙌

🏠 A Tiny Stone House in Ambleside

After hiking around Rydal Cave, it was finally time to look for food 🤔 The nearest little town was Ambleside. Compared to the more touristy vibe of Windermere, Starlemon actually preferred the slower pace here. The whole town feels like a postcard — lakeside views, stone cottages, and classic English countryside charm everywhere. Every few steps there’s another little stream or mountain view, and somehow it just makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. And of course, afternoon tea time means finding a cute café to sit down, chill with friends, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee ☕️

The most interesting spot here has to be Bridge House 😂 The house is SO tiny that the first thing I thought was: “Wait… people actually lived in there?” It’s built right above a small stream, and honestly looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Apparently people really did live there before, and it was even used as a shop and weaving house over 300 years ago. The best part was standing on the bridge listening to the sound of the water, with the cloudy Lake District weather giving everything that perfect British movie filter 🎬 No wonder everyone visiting the Lake District stops here for a photo 📸

Happy moments really do pass too quickly 🥹 Before we knew it, it was already time to say goodbye to the Lake District 👋 Got any other scenic routes or hidden spots to recommend? Drop them in the comments and let’s share! Hope you all have a lovely day — see you next time 🙌

Rydal Cave 🇬🇧

Discovering a Hidden Cave in the Lake District|Rydal Cave 🇬🇧

Starlemon originally thought the UK’s Lake District was just about looking at lakes, but after walking from Rydal Water to Rydal Cave, I realised the real charm of the Lake District isn’t just the photo spots — it’s the unbelievably peaceful atmosphere that somehow becomes addictive.

Compared to Windermere, Rydal Water is much smaller, but that’s exactly why it feels more natural and untouched. The lake is so calm that it perfectly reflects the surrounding mountains, especially after a light drizzle, when the whole place looks straight out of a movie opening scene.

The walk to the cave is filled with classic countryside scenery everywhere you look: stone walls, sheep, forests, little streams, and moss-covered paths. The cool air even carries a slight earthy smell, and honestly, for people constantly caught up in busy everyday life, it’s rare to experience this kind of slow rhythm. The best part is that the trail is super easy, but every few minutes another stunning view suddenly appears, which basically means your phone storage disappears at lightning speed 😂

And when I finally arrived at Rydal Cave, it was genuinely breathtaking. The mountainside suddenly opens up to reveal a massive hidden cave, with still water and stepping stones right in front of it. On cloudy days, the whole place turns grey-blue and mysterious, so beautiful that it almost makes you go quiet automatically. Most people snap a few photos and leave, but honestly, the nicest thing is sitting there for a few minutes, watching the wind ripple across the lake and listening to the sound of water. In that moment, you completely understand why so many people keep coming back to the Lake District again and again.

Now that the weather has finally been sunny lately ☀️, it’s the perfect time to explore more corners of the Lake District and reconnect with nature’s incredible landscapes 🥹 Stay tuned for the next , see you next time👋

Keswick

🇬🇧 A Traditional English Town | Keswick

Picking up from the last post — after an easy yet super scenic walk to Friar’s Crag, it was definitely time to find a cosy café for a coffee break ☕️ and just chill for a bit~

We slowly wandered from the car park into the heart of Keswick town centre and honestly… this place feels straight out of a British movie 😍

The town is filled with charming Victorian buildings, stone cottages, traditional pubs, cosy little bookstores, and lovely dessert shops. A friend told us there’s also a weekend market every Saturday, where locals come to shop, grab coffee, and catch up — making the whole place feel incredibly authentic and full of everyday life.

What I love most about Keswick is that it doesn’t feel like a place built just for tourists — it’s a real English town where people actually live 🇬🇧

And the location? Seriously unbeatable:

⛰️ Step out of town and you’re surrounded by mountains
🚶 Just a short walk to the lakeside
🏞️ The whole town is wrapped by the stunning Lake District scenery

It genuinely feels like living inside a postcard 🥹

No surprise that weekends and holidays get super busy here! If you’re driving, make sure to arrive early — parking spaces disappear fast 🚗💨

Hope you enjoyed today’s little Keswick sharing🙌 See you all next time👋👋👋

Friar's Crag

Friar's Crag — The Easiest Scenic Walk in the Lake District 🇬🇧

If you’re visiting the Lake District in England, Friar's Crag is definitely one of those “super easy, beginner-friendly” spots that almost anyone can enjoy. Located near the charming town of Keswick, it’s one of the most iconic viewpoints overlooking Derwentwater Lake. The best part? You don’t need any hiking experience or fancy gear to enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District.

Most visitors start from Keswick town centre, and the walk only takes around 20–30 minutes at a relaxed pace. The path is incredibly easy — more like a peaceful lakeside stroll than an actual hike. Along the way, you’ll pass through woodland trails, little bridges, stone paths, and stunning views of Derwentwater from different angles. The fresh air honestly feels like a full life reset.

One of the most magical things about the lake is how it changes colour depending on the weather. On sunny days, the water turns a beautiful blue-green shade, while cloudy weather gives the whole place a cinematic, classic British countryside vibe.

Once you arrive at the Friar's Crag viewpoint, you’ll be greeted with one of the Lake District’s signature views: calm waters in front, tiny islands scattered across the lake, and dramatic mountains stretching into the distance. Many people consider this one of the most romantic lake views in England — and during sunset, the golden light reflecting on the water feels absolutely dreamy.

Friar's Crag’s biggest advantage is definitely “low effort, high reward.” Unlike tougher hikes in the Peak District or the Scottish Highlands, this is all about slow travel and relaxing scenery. It’s perfect for couples, families, or even solo travellers. Keswick itself is also a lovely English town filled with cosy cafés, pubs, and cute little shops where you can easily spend half a day exploring. (I’ll introduce more about Keswick in the next post!)

If you ever have the chance to visit Keswick, don’t miss this hidden gem. Thank you all for supporting 🍋✨
