The old city centre of Slovakia's capital is a web of picturesque streets, populated with charming cafés and shops. We'll explore its unique art installations and historic buildings and sites, as well as its modern shopping centres and restaurants. We'll end our trip with a visit to the observation deck of the UFO tower at sunset!

✨ Destination Highlight: Tatra Mountains ✨

On the border between Slovakia and Poland lie the Tatra Mountains - the highest range in the Carpathian Mountains. We'll spend three days enjoying a variety of activities - lakeside walks, a couple of castles and historical sites, maybe a cave or two, and of course some excellent food! - in this area of incredible natural beauty. Here we'll also be able to get away from the summer heat! The higher altitude means cooler temperatures, with daytime highs in the low to mid-20s °C.

✨ Destination Highlight: Košice ✨

In 2010, my husband and I took jobs in this little city in Slovakia that we'd never heard of. In no time at all, we loved it.

Košice runs at a very different pace from Vienna and Budapest. It has a small historic centre with beautiful architecture, a main street lined with a disproportionate number of cafes and restaurants, and a singing fountain in a park in front of the state theatre. One of our favourite things to do is to find a bench and sit for a while, absorbing the ambience.

There's also art and shopping and history, but everything is nearby, so there will easily be time to relax and enjoy.

I've never known how to describe how much I love it here. It's the place I long for most when I'm not there, and where I feel the most alive when I am.

✨ Destination Highlight: Vienna ✨

Wow, I love Vienna! I love starting my trip here, and getting to the centre of the city first thing in the morning. I love the abundance of history and art. I love all the little cafés and bakeries and restaurants. I love being able to wander forever in continually beautiful streets and parks, and to get around quickly and easily when I don't want to walk anymore.

On our trip, we'll be in Vienna for 4 days. That's not nearly enough to explore and enjoy it all - for that, you might need to move here! - but we'll get a good sample of its offerings. I'm so excited to show you what I've found!
