Another bike-train combo today. Train from Uppsala to Örbyhus. A few kilometers to cycle to Örbyhus slott. The castle is best known for Erik XIV being poisoned and killed by his half-brothers. But that’s just one part of the long history of this beatiful castle. We took a guided tour which made it even more interesting.

Lunch at the neighboring golf club before heading to the next stop full of history. Vendel has a small but interesting visitor centre giving you the most important facts about the Vendel age and the boat graves.

Last stop was Salsta Castle close to Vattholma. Nice café in the beautiful old castle. No guided tour this time but we will be back. We just got back to Vattholma in time to catch the train back to Uppsala.

History day in northern Uppland and again it worked great taking the bikes on the train.

I had the pleasure to guide 20 members of Cykelfrämjandet from all around Sweden, around My Uppsala. Thanks for all positive feedback and also thanks to Café Kulturhaus Ekensberg for opening up the café only for us. A true gem close to Uppsala with (unexpected) Austrian pastries.
