Planina Ceramics

Planina Ceramics I'm Martina, the craftswoman behind Planina Ceramics. I create unique ceramic pieces. Welcome! I only use my hands, clay and some simple wooden tools.

I work with stoneware clay and use traditional hand-building techniques such as coiling, rolling and pinching, and some of my pieces are hand-carved. The hand-building technique allows for a soft, tactile organic form that I like. My ceramic pieces hold evidence of the human hand and I hope these preserved histories allow the viewer to connect with its deeply human, handmade origin. When making, I

am looking towards a realistic and thoughtful way to endorse sustainability, as well as to keep myself engaged as a lover of things and as an artist. I mostly make vases and mugs and each of my pieces is completely unique because I don't use molds.

Before & after these beautiful mugs 🤎
It still amazes me how much they shrink during firing 😳

Each one is shaped and carved by hand, so no two are ever the same.

This time I made two sizes, 300 ml and 380 ml, so you can choose what size feels best for your daily ritual.

They’re now available on my website.

Thank you to everyone who came to our exhibition yesterday 🤎
And to my lovely girls och , thank you for such a beautiful day ✨

This time, I decided to share my paintings too, and wow…I’m so grateful for all your kind words. It made me so happy to see how surprised you were that I don’t only create ceramics 😉

And seeing the paintings paired with my bird sculptures…I’m obsessed, and I can’t wait to hang some of them on my own walls at home too ✨

My heart is full.

I started with the holiday mugs a bit early this year so you can enjoy them when the darkness starts to feel a bit heavy ✨🎄

They sold out so fast (thank you 🤎), and then one of my lovely customers wished for two more. When I sat down to draw the pine trees again, I ended up making three extra 🫣

Three mugs and three spoons are now available on my webshop. I hope they bring a small sparkle of light and joy ✨

Working with clay feels so grounding✨ It is like little pause in a world that always seems to rush.

And I want you to feel it.

That’s why I’m slowly decorating Studio of Clay & Calm, a cozy corner for workshops and small gatherings. Only small groups, so everyone can create, relax, and enjoy the process fully 🤎

Official opening: New Moon, November 20 🌑
A New Moon Gathering to set intentions and welcome the season and fresh beginnings.
