How I got a free layover in Doha (& what I did there):

I booked a one way flight from Mumbai to Chicago and selected a stopover in Doha, the capital of . I chose one of the free hotel options and paid about $580 for an economy seat and 2 nights at a hotel.

With 48 hours on the ground, I managed to visit , , , AND go on a desert adventure without feeling rushed. A 10/10 layover option, but I’ll opt for an upgraded hotel next time.

Once more for the grid 📸 It really was so much fun getting all glammed up and going to , my first red carpet event in more than a decade. Many thanks to for the invite and to my high school mall for coming through last minute with a black tie dress that didnt’t need alterations 🙌🏽 If you are a petite girlie like me, you know this was a real Christmas miracle.

I loved the celebration of storytelling, and it was fun to spot Miley Cyrus, Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Sandler, Michael B Jordan, Jane Fonda, Mahershala Ali, Laura Dern and Teyana Taylor on the red carpet! A few snapshots from almost a month in India researching Tamil Nadu for . I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, but I still learned and saw so much that was new to me. Many thanks to my extended family, superb guides including and , and OG mentor and friend for the company and support.

1) The Government Museum in Chennai- well worth a few hours of your time, and the grounds are a peaceful oasis.

2) Brihadeeswara, a UNESCO recognized Hindu temple in Thanjavur

3) Palace Bell Tower in Thanjavur

4) On the steps of the Taj Savoy in Ooty

5 & 6) Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, loved the elephants, but

7) Keeladi museum - don’t snooze on this newly unearthed peak into ancient Tamil civilization

8) Highfield Tea Estate in Coonoor, .p._9teen is an excellent (and super fun) guide. Go visit him!

9) Cocktails at Flying Tiger inside my new favorite Park Hyatt
