Ivana in Portugal Visit Portugal

One of the reasons I love Portugal🇵🇹

The beach season officially starts in June.
That’s when lifeguards are supposed to be on duty.

But Portugal doesn’t wait.

They already know the beaches will get crowded. They predict it. They prepare for it.So even before the season starts, you’ll see lifeguards on the beach, watching over everyone.

Because here, safety isn’t a reaction.
It’s a priority.

And here’s something most people don’t know:

Many lifeguards are actually supported by nearby beach restaurants-the same ones renting sunbeds.

For me, that says everything.
That’s not just organization. That’s care. That’s Portugal.

And honestly… that’s how I know summer is coming ☀️

It’s not just the view…
it’s the music, the people, the energy.
Lisbon rooftops just hit different.

Hristos Vaskrse, Srecan Uskrs🙏Yesterday was Easter for Orthodox believers, and even far from home, the feeling was just as warm. Here in Lisbon, we gathered in a beautiful 16th-century church that has been given to the Serbian Orthodox community for worship. Even though the church is currently under reconstruction, the service was held, and we were able to receive communion. Around 30–40 of us came together and it was truly heartwarming to see our community united like that. We tapped Easter eggs, smiled like we were back home, and for a moment… everything felt familiar. People also prepared food to we all share and enjoy together. And after it all, we continued the celebration at my friend’s place with Serbian music, laughter, and the sound of an accordion played by a dear friend.

Days like this remind you: home isn’t just a place, it’s people 💖 Happy Easter 🙏🏻

On this day, 10 years ago, I traveled to Portugal for a short vacation, for just two weeks. But the moment I saw that first beach (my first picture in Portugal), I knew I wanted to stay. Everything felt familiar, nothing felt foreign, and my heart found a home. What was meant to be a temporary trip turned into a life I never imagined. Even now, with all the changes life brings, Portugal remains my country, my home. I may always be a foreigner here, yet this is where I belong.

Today I went on a date… with myself 🩷 And honestly, it was beautiful.

Even though I didn’t have company, I decided not to waste a perfect day. So I took myself out for a walk through the city, starting in Chiado and wandering down to Rossio. Along the way, I treated myself to something sweet (because why not?). I headed to Santa Luzia to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon… but it was too crowded. So I moved to Portas do Sol to grab a drink and enjoy the beautiful view of Alfama. To end the day, I walked down to Baixa and watched the sunset by the river. Sometimes, the best company is the one you already have.

Do you go out alone and enjoy your day, or does it depend on having company?

What I love about Lisbon is the vibe that hits you when you walk through the city’s heart. Crowds of people, musicians playing everywhere, and you get a feeling that everyone is enjoying the moment.
