Travel is supposed to be exciting, but let’s be real—it can also be overwhelming, especially when you’re managing anxiety. For me, it’s not just the usual travel stress. The ring of my phone is a trigger—just to give you an idea of how bad my anxiety can get. And when I travel with my mom, who is disabled, my anxiety tends to hit its peak.

There’s so much to think about—making sure everything is accessible, keeping track of all the details, and just hoping nothing goes wrong. It’s a lot.

But here’s what I’ve learned: planning ahead makes all the difference. Knowing that I’ve thought through the details—like accessible accommodations, smooth transfers, and realistic pacing—helps me feel more in control. And when I feel calm, it makes the trip better for both of us.
