ASME HPVC UPRM - Human Powered Vehicle Challenge The Human Powered Vehicle Challenge is a competition of ASME about the design and manufacture of green vehicles to help underdeveloped countries.

Every year ASME has a competition called Human Powered Vehicle Challenge. This competition is about the design and manufacture of green vehicles with the purpose to help underdeveloped countries. Also it has the purpose of reducing the global impact of gasoline. The HPVC has four events: Design, Innovation, Velocity and Endurance. All the teams put their effort for over one year, using what they l

earn in engineering classes to design and manufacture their masterpiece for the competition. Human-powered transport is often the only type available in underdeveloped or inaccessible parts of the world, and if well designed, can be an increasingly viable form of sustainable transportation. The HPVC provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the application of sound engineering design principles in the development of sustainable and practical transportation alternatives. Students work in teams to design and build efficient, highly engineered vehicles for everyday use from commuting to work, to carrying goods to market. Our goal is to develop students professionally so that they take into consideration every aspect of what they design, and are able to take into consideration not only the functionality and safety of the product, but also its appeal to the demographic target. The UPRM’s Human Powered Vehicle Challenge is ready for its manufacturing semester and is recruiting new members! The team is looking for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Business and Marketing students!
