Bank statement(s) (sponsor) verification for Italian study visa!
Verification of bank statement(s) is a common practice for Embassies to confirm the authenticity of your submitted statements. Often occurs in certain cases if certain doubts arises.
Not every applicants will have to go through this process. Only if the VO or relevant officials find something unusual or doubtful, they can opt for a verification process.
The Embassy of Italy does not publicly disclose its exact verification procedures. However, based on standard Schengen and Italian national (study) visa practices, along with common procedures used by embassies in Bangladesh, they may verify sponsor(s) bank statements in several ways:
💠 Direct verification with the bank
* If there is any doubt, the embassy or the visa processing office may contact the issuing bank to confirm:
* Whether the account exists.
* Whether the statement or solvency certificate is genuine.
* Whether the stated balance was correct on the date of issuance.
* They typically use official contact details rather than any phone number printed only on the applicant’s documents.
💠 Requests for additional evidence
* The embassy may ask for updated bank statements, transaction histories, or additional financial documents if clarification is needed.
💠 Fraud detection
* Italian embassies take document fraud very seriously. If a bank statement is found to be forged or altered, the visa application can be refused, and the applicant may face consequences for future visa applications.
Embassies generally email or call either the head office or the branch of the relevant bank to clarify any doubts!
In case of verification of statements, Embassy will email the relevant bank with a consent letter to disclose the financial details of the account holder and banks normally provide another consent letter from their end to account holder to seek permission for sharing information about their accounts and financial statements. (It may vary from bank to bank)
But to avoid any further confusion, it is advised to keep in touch with the relevant bank branch and request them to check emails regularly including spam to ensure they are aware if any contact has been made! *(Specially the Government banks)
