Hazara Police Take Action After Harassment of Foreign Tourist – Promoting Safe Tourism in Pakistan

Abbottabad (TahirMehmood):
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Hazara, Nasir Mehmood Satti, has taken immediate notice of an incident involving the harassment of a foreign tourist by local police officials, after a video of the event went viral on social media.
According to the Hazara Police spokesperson, one police constable has been suspended, while two others have been served show-cause notices for their misconduct. An inquiry committee has also been formed under the supervision of the District Police Officer (DPO) Battagram to ensure a transparent investigation.
The incident involved a female tourist from the Netherlands, who was on her way to explore the northern areas of Pakistan. Reports state that police officials engaged her in unnecessary questioning, including inappropriate personal inquiries about marriage, which caused discomfort.
The Hazara Police spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan warmly welcomes international tourists and that such behavior is unacceptable. Authorities assured that strict disciplinary measures will be taken to maintain Pakistan’s image as a safe and hospitable destination for travelers worldwide.
