PNP LOGS 290 CLOSED GAS STATIONS, 31 CASES FILED, 77 SUSPECTS IN NATIONWIDE MONITORING

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues its nationwide monitoring and coordination efforts amid the ongoing oil supply situation, working closely with concerned agencies to ensure orderly operations of fuel stations and prevent illegal activities in the petroleum sector.

Based on the latest consolidated monitoring, out of 14,529 gas stations nationwide, a total of 290 have been recorded as temporarily closed due to the oil crisis as of April 26, 2026. Authorities also reported 31 cases filed in relation to various violations, including hoarding, profiteering, and other offenses involving petroleum products.

Of the total cases, 9 were classified under hoarding, 1 under profiteering, while 21 involved other violations such as illegal storage, theft, estafa, trademark infringement, customs-related violations, and breaches of Presidential Decree No. 1865 and BP 33, as amended.

A total of 77 individuals have been identified as suspects across different regions, with several cases already filed in court, while others remain under investigation or for further case build-up.

The PNP emphasized that these monitoring efforts are part of a coordinated government response under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that essential services remain stable while safeguarding consumers against abusive or illegal practices in the fuel industry.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the organization remains focused on balanced enforcement and public protection.

“Ang ating ginagawa ay hindi lang pagbabantay, kundi siguraduhin na walang umaabuso sa sitwasyon. We are acting to protect both consumers and legitimate business operators,” he said.

He added that the PNP’s actions are guided by its Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, ensuring that all enforcement activities are properly coordinated with regulatory agencies and supported by lawful procedures.

The PNP assured the public that monitoring will continue nationwide to ensure fair fuel distribution and compliance with regulations, while also safeguarding the rights of all stakeholders involved.

This initiative reflects the continuing commitment of the organization in support of national stability and public service, in line with “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
