🚧 Great Taste Trail Update 🚴‍♂️💨

Our trail manager and contractors are out assessing damage and working hard to get the trail back into shape. With more wet weather forecast for Thursday, we’re holding off on major resurfacing until conditions improve.
✅ Sections Inspected and Open:
Nelson to Richmond / Richmond to Brightwater / Richmond to Lower Queen Street

Spooners Tunnel is a disused railway tunnel with a rich history. Hand-dug between 1891 and 1893, it was part of the Nelson to Glenhope railway line, designed to connect Nelson to the rest of the South Island.
The tunnel was a crucial link for rail transport until the line was abandoned in 1955. Today, it's a popular destination for cyclists and walkers, as a part of Tasman's Great Taste Trail.
It is the longest decommissioned railway tunnel in NZ, and the 5th longest of it's kind in the southern hemisphere.
