Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month is one that feels incredibly close to home for our team. 💙

Our team has the privilege of supporting people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s every single day and it’s a reminder that kindness, patience, and genuine connection matter more than we often realise.

Being Dementia Friends is something our team is very proud of, and we continue to build our knowledge and skills so we can better support both clients and their families through every stage of the journey.

While transport is part of what we do, it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference:
💙 Taking the time to chat
💙 Offering reassurance and familiarity
💙 Helping someone maintain independence
💙 Being a friendly, trusted face each week

This month is about raising awareness, encouraging understanding, and reminding people that those living with dementia deserve compassion, dignity, and support within our communities.
To all families navigating this journey, you are not alone. 💙

Happy King's Birthday. We hope you have a wonderful weekend 🚙

We know how important the Total Mobility Scheme is for many of our clients.

It’s not just about getting to appointments. It’s about being able to do the shopping, see family and friends, and stay connected to the community.

Driving Miss Daisy has made a submission on the Government’s review of the scheme because we want to speak up for our clients who rely on it.

A few of the things we wanted decision-makers to keep in mind were:

• The purpose of the scheme must stay clear: helping people access transport so they can access essential services, take part in their communities and retain independence

• Accessibility needs to be looked at in a real-world way — not just by asking whether someone can physically get on a bus

• Relying on family or friends to help someone use public transport is not a realistic answer for many people

• Limiting the number of subsidised trips could reduce people’s independence, wellbeing and ability to stay involved in their communities

Through our work, we see every day how important the right transport support is. It is not simply a transport issue — it is closely tied to dignity, confidence, connection and the ability to live well.

We’ll always keep advocating for the best outcomes for our clients and their whānau.
