STUART DRUMMOND TRANSPORT EXPANDS

The jointly owned Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Rārua business, Stuart Drummond Transport is expanding, with the purchase of 23 trucks from Waimea Contract Carriers. It brings the total fleet size to just over 80 trucks.

The deal, which comes into effect on 2 November, will mean Stuart Drummond Transport also takes over Waimea Contract Carriers services for Tasman Pine Forests Limited. For Ngāti Koata this is a further strengthening of our relationship with our forestry partner Tasman Pine Forests Limited.

Stuart Drummond Transport General Manager Harry Llewellyn says a lot of work has gone in to ensure there was a smooth transition.

“To retain experienced people and provide continuity for the operation, employment opportunities will be offered to a number of existing Waimea Contract Carriers staff.

“In the short term, the operation will continue to run from the existing Waimea Contract Carriers yard while a more permanent solution is identified. “

“We’ll have the right people and resources in place, and a strong focus on keeping things running smoothly throughout the change as we continue to grow and further improve the service we provide.”

We would like to acknowledge and thank the McIntyre family for their longstanding contribution to Waimea Contract Carriers and the wider transport industry.

We appreciate the constructive way they have worked with us throughout the sale process and their commitment to supporting a smooth transition for staff, customers and the wider operation.

Proud to have played a small part in such a great community project. 👏

At Stuart Drummond Transport, we were more than happy to donate the log cartage to help get this locally grown timber from the forest to the sawmill and support the new Huia Rugby Clubrooms.

It’s fantastic to see local businesses and the forestry industry coming together to support a project that will benefit Huia whānau, the club and the wider Motueka community for many years to come.

We’re proud to support our local community and even prouder to see locally grown timber being used to build something that will have such a lasting impact.

Well done to everyone involved — we’re stoked to have been a small part of it. 🏉🌲
