Autumn in Norway is the season when sheep return from the mountains and take over the roads! 🐑🍂

This is exactly what happens in Sirdal during the traditional autumn sheep gathering, known as sauesanking. After spending the summer grazing freely in the mountains, thousands of sheep and lambs are guided down into the valleys, turning quiet Norwegian roads into enormous, fluffy traffic jams! 🇳🇴🔔

During Sirdalsdagane, the annual festival at Kvæven, huge flocks arrive from the mountains to be sorted and reunited with their owners. And when the sheep are on the move, everyone else simply has to wait - the road belongs to them! 😄🐑

Want to see more fluffy chaos? We filmed the entire journey, from gathering the sheep in the mountains to their arrival at the sorting pens, in beautiful 4K! You can watch the full video on our YouTube channel - the link is in the first comment! 🎥❤️

👉 Have you ever seen such a massive sheep gathering in Norway or anywhere else?

After a day of almost endless rain, Haugesund gave us the most wonderful farewell gift - a sky full of colour! 🌅❤️

Just as the day was coming to an end, the clouds opened up and the setting sun painted the harbour in brilliant shades of gold, orange and pink. The boats, waterfront houses and calm water suddenly looked completely different. Moments like this make us forget all about the rain we had been complaining about just a few hours earlier! 😍⛵

Haugesund is a coastal city in western Norway with a strong maritime heritage. Its harbour and the narrow Smedasundet strait have long been at the heart of city life, while the surrounding region is closely connected to the Viking Age and the story of Harald Fairhair. Today, colourful waterfront buildings, restaurants and passing boats make the harbour a lovely place to explore, especially when the evening sky puts on a show like this. 🇳🇴⚓

Standing on the edge of Dalsnibba feels a little like stepping straight into the sky! 😍

Geiranger Skywalk is one of Norway’s most impressive mountain viewpoints. Its glass railings and metal-grated floor extend towards the edge of the mountain, giving you an almost unobstructed view of the rugged peaks, glaciers and the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord far below. And the best part? You can drive all the way to the top along the winding Nibbevegen! 🚗🇳🇴

Here’s a little detail that might surprise you: Dalsnibba is advertised everywhere as being 1,500 metres above sea level, but the actual elevation of the viewpoint is approximately 1,475.5 metres. Apparently, a nice round number looks better on a sign! 😄📏

But whether you are standing at 1,475.5 or 1,500 metres, the feeling is exactly the same. With the wind blowing across the platform, mountains stretching to the horizon and the ground dropping away beyond the glass, those last few steps towards the edge can feel surprisingly adventurous! 💙🌬️

👉 Have you visited Dalsnibba? Did you walk confidently right up to the glass railing, or did you approach the edge one careful step at a time?

There's more to Mount Fløyen than beautiful views over Bergen... hidden among the trees is a forest where real trolls are waiting to be discovered! 🇳🇴🌲

Just a short walk from the upper Fløibanen station, a trail leads into the mysterious Troll Forest. Here, among the moss-covered rocks and towering trees, you'll meet the magical inhabitants of Fløyen, inspired by Norway's old fairy tales and folklore. 🧌

Some trolls are easy to spot, while others seem to blend into the forest around them. And according to Norwegian folklore, trolls turn to stone in sunlight, so perhaps that's why they're so good at staying perfectly still when visitors come looking for them! 😉🪨

So next time you visit Bergen, don't stop at the famous viewpoint. Follow the trail into the forest and see how many trolls you can find. It's a little adventure that makes Mount Fløyen even more memorable! ❤️

👉 Have you walked through the Troll Forest on Fløyen? Which troll was your favorite?

Furebergsfossen is magnificent in every season and in almost any weather! 💦

On a sunny day, its white streams sparkle against the dark rock and green forest. After heavy rain, the waterfall becomes even more powerful, sending clouds of spray towards the road. Whatever the weather, we can never resist stopping here! ❤️

Furebergsfossen is located beside Road 500 in Mauranger, in the Hardanger region of Norway. Its waters tumble down the mountainside towards Maurangerfjorden, while the road passes right across the foot of the waterfall. It is one of those places where you barely have to leave your car to find yourself right beside an incredible force of nature! 🚗

We have also noticed how much busier this stop has become over the years. Around five years ago, we could often find the parking area almost empty. These days, we see visitors happily walking around, admiring the waterfall and taking photos. It seems more and more people have discovered this beautiful corner of Norway! 📸

👉 Are you familiar with Furebergsfossen? Have you ever stopped here to see it in person?

Imagine coming to Holmenkollen for a ski jump... and finding a swimming pool instead! 😄🏊

Today, Holmenkollbakken is one of Oslo’s most recognizable landmarks, with its enormous ski jump rising above the forests and the city. But this famous Norwegian sports venue has a rather unexpected summer history! 🇳🇴⛷️

From 1982 to 2007, the amphitheatre at the bottom of the old ski jump was filled with water during summer, creating a pool around six metres deep. People could swim there, watch water-jumping competitions and enjoy summer entertainment. Imagine spending a sunny afternoon swimming right where ski jumpers landed in winter! 💦☀️

The old ski jump was demolished in 2008, and the striking modern Holmenkollbakken we see today opened in 2010. The summer pool is long gone, but the view from the top remains one of the wonderful reasons to visit this famous Oslo landmark. 🏔️❤️

👉 Did you ever see the old summer pool at Holmenkollen, or is this the first time you’ve heard about it? 😊

If we had to choose just three photographs to show what Norway looks like, this view from Sognefjellet would definitely make our top three! 😍🇳🇴

Why? Because this one photograph captures so many things we love about Norway. Lush green mountain slopes and brilliant white glaciers in the middle of summer, with the mighty peaks of Jotunheimen rising in the background. This mountain region is home to the highest peaks in the Scandinavian Mountains, including Galdhøpiggen, which reaches 2,469 metres above sea level. 🏔️❄️

And then there is the road itself! Sognefjellsvegen is one of Norway’s most beautiful scenic drives, winding through the high mountains and reaching 1,434 metres above sea level. In summer, it looks so dry and welcoming, but those tall roadside snow poles remind us just how deep the snow can get here. The mountain pass is normally closed during winter. 🚗

Add the bright blue mountain lakes, dramatic clouds and that wonderful feeling of a road leading straight into the mountains, and for us, this is almost the perfect Norwegian postcard! 💙📸

👉 Which photograph would make your personal top three views of Norway? Show us your favorite in the comments! ❤️

This is the Lofoten many people travel thousands of kilometres to see! 😍🇳🇴

The tiny fishing village of Hamnøy seems to contain almost everything we imagine when we think of Lofoten, Norway - traditional red rorbuer standing right at the water’s edge, little rocky islands, deep blue sea and enormous mountains rising almost vertically behind them. 🏔️🌊

These classic red cabins are part of a centuries-old fishing tradition. Rorbuer were originally simple seasonal homes for fishermen who came to Lofoten for the great winter cod fishery. Today many have been beautifully restored for visitors, but they still preserve one of the most recognizable pieces of Lofoten’s coastal heritage. ❤️🐟

It is an almost impossibly postcard-perfect view... and probably exactly the kind of scene many people dream about before their first trip to Lofoten! 📸

👉 Was seeing the red fishermen’s cabins surrounded by these incredible mountains one of the reasons you wanted to visit Lofoten?

Lunch with a view? At the top of Loen Skylift, the view might make you forget about the food completely! 😍🏔️

This is what you see through the huge panoramic windows of Hoven Restaurant, high above Loen in Norway. The restaurant sits at the top of Mount Hoven, more than 1,000 metres above the fjord, with Loen Skylift bringing visitors from the fjord to the mountain in only a few minutes. 🚠🇳🇴

And outside those windows is the incredible turquoise Nordfjord, with Loen far below and mountains stretching into the distance. On a clear day like this, getting a table by the window feels like having one of Norway’s greatest panoramas served together with your meal! 💙🍽️

👉 Would you choose a table by the window, or would you be too distracted by the view to eat?

For an even bigger Norway travel adventure, stop at Vatnahalsen, ride the Flåm Zipline – the longest zipline in Scandinavia – and cycle through the Flåm Valley back to Flåm. 🚴‍♂️

👉 Would you experience the Flåm Railway by train only, or add the zipline and bike ride?
