This week marked a successful loading of a 47-meter yacht mast and a 15-meter boom onto the Höegh Bangkok at Ports of Auckland's Multicargo terminal.

The state-of-the-art shipment, manufactured by Southern Spars Ltd of Auckland, is bound for Zeebrugge, Belgium where it will be installed on a Wally ocean-racing yacht.

The operation was executed flawlessly by a highly professional two-man Boat Haulage driver team who reversed the cargo onto the ship with precision and received excellent support from C3 stevedores who secured it to the ship's main RORO deck. Congratulations to all involved on a job well done!

With a fleet designed for maximum flexibility, we are able to cater for a wide range of cargo. Our customers range from global vehicle manufacturers to producers of high and heavy construction equipment and other rolling and non-rolling stock.

The race for ammonia-fueled shipping is on!

But unlike other races, this one is not a matter of crossing the line first. It is a matter of all of us crossing the line. As soon as possible.

TradeWinds’ podcast Green Seas dedicated its latest episode to ammonia fueling and the prospects of green engine projects in the shipping industry interviewing Robert Tustin of Lloyd's Register, Brian Østergaard Sørensen of MAN Energy Solutions and Christos Chryssakis of DNV.

We are happy that they report on our Aurora class vessels, the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly PCTC vessels ever built. The first four Auroras will be dual-fuel vessels able to run on ammonia.
We look forward to receiving them – the first two in 2H of 2024.

But in the meantime, you can use a couple of minutes listening to Eric Priante Martin going through the green newbuilds and trends of our industry🌎 🍀🚢

Ammonia is tantalising as a shipping fuel because it has no carbon, but the first vessels planned for 2026 are just one step in a longer journey. We talk to Robert Tustin of Lloyd’s Register, Brian Os

🚢Test riding the future of our industry 🚢

got a whole new feel to it today, where we got to experience how steering our Aurora vessels will be like.

Together with Kongsberg Digital and University of South-Eastern Norway we got to simulate handling these majestic giants that will be the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers ever built.

🎯It was a pleasure sharing this sneak peek into the future with trusted partners and investors – an experience that will stick with us all for a long time.

🌊Our Auroras, the first in the segment to be able to operate on zero carbon ammonia, will be delivered from the second half of next year. Two every six months until 2026, eight in total. And with the option of another eight.

As the pictures show, they are truly incredible. And indeed, the future of the shipping industry.

“We dreamed of taking the Company in a whole new direction, adapting our current and future fleet to a green and more sustainable future. We succeeded in doing that with the launch of our Aurora class vessels and are now ahead of the pack in sustainable deep sea transportation. No one has designed a similar vessel and it was amazing to get to test ride them. We can’t wait for H2 of 2024,” says Höegh Autoliners’ CEO, Andreas Enger

Thank you to all participants for a great day. We enjoyed spending it with you!

🍀Already now, Höegh Autoliners operates some of the world’s most efficient Pure Car Truck Carriers. Our six Horizon class vessels are 40% more efficient than a standard PCTC.

🍀In 2021 Höegh Autoliners completed its first carbon neutral voyage when Höegh Trigger ran on advanced biofuels meeting the highest sustainability standards from Europe to South Africa - once again accelerating our decarbonisation efforts.

“As an inherent business value, sustainability has been and is at the core of Höegh Autoliners’ operations. We have a solid history on emission cuts and long-term efforts to combat climate change and are on a clear path towards a zero emissions future. For us, it is not about compliance, but sustainable leadership,” says Leif O. Høegh

Happy 80th birthday to our former Chairman of the Board, Westye Høegh! 🎈

Westye has played an invaluable role in our company, Höegh Autoliners, for a significant portion of our nearly 100-year history.

We are grateful for Westye's dedication and hard work, as well as for his commitment to driving the company forward through innovation over the years.

In a conversation with the current Chairman of the Board, Leif O. Høegh, Westye shared his thoughts on the importance of incorporating new technology in the design and development of new ships.

"We have always been willing to look to new technology and have designed new ships over the years. I think the capability of applying new technology when designing and developing new ships is very important," he said.

On this special occasion, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Westye and all of our former employees for their contributions to the numerous achievements of our company.

Here's a glimpse into the discussion that took place when Westye and Leif Høegh visited our office in Oslo to celebrate Westye's 80th birthday 👇

⛔ Corruption is inherently wrong; it is a misuse of power and position, it undermines the integrity of all involved and damages the foundation of society.

The United Nations Convention against Corruption designated 9 December as the International Anti-Corruption Day. Höegh Autoliners applies a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption

“We need everyone’s support to achieve a corruption-free maritime community. We encourage our employees to report something that doesn't seem right. New of this year is that we have an anonymous reporting channel, available for anyone through our website. The option to report anonymously is believed to both deter and detect wrongdoing while at the same time reassuring and protecting the person reporting. Anyone can anonymously report on malpractices, corruption, and other wrongdoings through our whistle-blower hotline,” says Renate Lystad, General Counsel at Höegh Autoliners.

Corruption is a widespread challenge for companies involved in world trade. It weakens democratic institutions, reduces economic development, and contributes to governmental instability.
